CAS(E) this Sketch #282

Teammie Brian brings us this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.
Here's Sketch #282.

And here's my take on it--a card with no stamping involved thanks to some
patterned papers and dies.

I adhered two pieces of coordinating (and extinct!) papers on a card base.
A solid strip of paper was adhered between them. The sentiment was cut
from a circle of gray card stock and popped up on the card. Done!

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see how the rest of the team interpreted Brian's
sketch and join us if you can. Link up your card(s) by Thursday, August 2nd
and as the winner, you could be joining us on a future sketch!

MFT Bundle of Balloons Card Kit Release Day

It's time! You may now purchase the Bundle of Balloons Card Kit in the MFT Store!
I'd like to share one more project with you using this versatile kit.

If you're a follower of my blog, you know that I LOVE ink distressing and the technique
would naturally make an appearance on a project. So here it is.

I began by clear embossing balloons on white card stock, then ink distressed with
yellow, orange, and pink Distress inks. I spattered water over the surface and trimmed
the panel down to 4 x 5.25". The card looked a little "flat" so I die cut more balloons
from white card stock and lightly ink distressed the edges, then popped them over
the embossed balloons.

I inked the very bottom of the panel with green ink for a bit of interest, and added
some stars around the balloons. The sentiment was gold embossed on a strip of
white card stock and ink distressed with yellow ink and popped up on the panel.
The panel was then adhered to a white card base.

Balloon overkill? I guess I did get carried away. But in my opinion, you can never
have too many balloons for a birthday celebration or any happy occasion!

MFT Bundle of Balloons Card Kit Day 2

Are you ready for more inspiration using My Favorite Things Bundle of Balloons
Card Kit? This fun, colorful kit will go on sale tomorrow, July 24th at 9PM EST
in the MFT Store!

The mid month "free with $60" Die-namics is Birthday GIRL/BOY and I've
chosen to use the die on today's card for a "grown up" birthday girl.

Using the Misti, I lined up the five balloons in the set and stamped them in
rainbow order with MFT dye inks, moving the card each time to stagger
the balloons. After trimming the panel, Birthday GIRL was cut through
and backed with adhesive tape.

The letters were cut from black card stock and puzzle pieced into their
respective spaces. The sassy sentiment was stamped on the card and
balloon highlights were added with a white Gelly Roll pen.

Visit today's Card Kit post at My Favorite Things for more inspiration and
ideas from participating Creative Team members. Get ready to purchase the
Bundle of Balloons Card Kit  tomorrow, July 24th at 9PM EST in the MFT Store!

MFT Bundle of Balloons Card Kit Day 1

In keeping with My Favorite Things 12th Birthday celebration, the Card Kit
this month is filled with balloon goodness. Here's a peek at Bundle of Balloons.

Visit today's Card Kit post at My Favorite Things for a closer look and detailed
description of the kit's contents.

Can you see the gorgeous glitter card stock? You get a pack of 6x6" papers,
three sheets of 8 bright colors, and it's what I used on today's card.

Balloon Strings--one of my favorite background stamps!--was white embossed
on a white card base. I die cut a ton of balloons from assorted colors of card stock
and adhered them to the card. Some were popped up for dimension. The sentiment
was white embossed on a strip of Steel Grey card stock and popped up over the balloons.

I tried to capture the shine on the balloons, and believe me, they do sparkle!

CAS(E) this Sketch #281

Here's this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #281, brought to you by N@ Ali.

And here's my take on it--a one layer number!

I started by stamping the sentiment and stamped the three fish around it. The
fish were colored with Copic markers and highlights were added with a white
Gel pen. As a finishing touch--and it doesn't show up too well--I added bubbles
with Nuvo Crystal Glaze, and rounded off the bottom corners of the card.

and join us if you can. Link up your card(s) by Thursday, July 26th and as the

MFT July Birthday Project--Confetti!

Sure, it’s messy and you might be running across remnants long past the big day
but you can’t deny the fact that confetti is FUN. Add it to a shaker, precisely place it
on your card front, or tuck some into a pocket or envelope - there are so many ways to
incorporate this birthday essential into your card making.

Here's how I sprinkled confetti onto my project.

A small vellum envelope was constructed and filled with confetti. A Steel Grey
panel was adhered to a Stone Gray card base and the envelope was adhered
on the bottom. The sentiment was white embossed and more confetti was
adhered on the card.

Let’s see how you sprinkle confetti into your next birthday card design!

Ellen Hutson July Color Trend Challenge

Have you heard? Ellen Hutson's popular Pin Sights Challenge will now be known
as the Color Trend Challenge, an inspiration challenge based on the current
color trend of the month.

I'm thrilled to be joining Ellen Hutson's family and friends with this month's
Pantone Palette Quietude. Check out the colors in this photo.

 http://ellenhutson.typepad.com/the_classroom_new/2018/07/july-color-trends-challenge.html

Here's my card partly inspired by last month's trip to northern Japan.
To get a jump start on the color palette, I started on a kraft card base. I decided
to "hang" the bamboo like a canopy rather than have it grow from the ground.
The little girl and her umbrella were stamped and colored with Prismacolor pencils.

Falling flowers were stamped and the sentiment was added to the card.
Highlights were added as a finishing touch with a white Gelly Roll pen.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #394

It's Wednesday--time for a new Wednesday Sketch Challenge!
Here's Sketch #394.

And here's my take on it.

Four octagon shapes were cut from a scrap of alcohol ink background and
adhered to an In the Buff card base. A martini glass was cut from shiny gold
card stock and adhered over them. The card was finished off with a gold
embossed sentiment.

MFT & Friends--July 2018 Release

For this month's MFT & Friends, I challenged myself to make a shaker card
with the Happy Birthday Block Die-namics and I was pleased with how
simple it was to construct one.

I started with an alcohol inked background that I made with pink, orange,
and yellow inks. Gold foil was added for a bit of bling. The sentiment was die cut
and because there wasn't much of an edge around the letters, I trimmed the
piece to a 4.5" square.

A 4.5" by 9" piece of In the Buff card stock was constructed for the card base.
An acetate sheet was adhered to the back of the sentiment and I adhered the
"innards" of the A's, B, D, P's, and R in their respective spaces right on the acetate.
Adhesive foam tape was doubled up so the sequins would have ample room to
do their thing. I added the sequins and adhered the panel to the card base.

The Happy Birthday Block Die-namics makes for a quick card and always save the
letters to make a second card.

Die cut a Stone Gray card base, saving the insides of the alphabets that have
them, then place an adhesive sheet behind the sentiment. Puzzle piece the
letters in their respective spaces and tie on a silk ribbon to finish off the card.
Two cards from one die--how awesome is that?

Team (and friends!) using the July 2018 Release!

Paper Smooches Christmas in July 2018

It's been so hot here in the islands and we literally wilt without the trade winds.
I saw Paper Smooches' latest challenge and decided to join the fun
and try to cool off, too.

Christmas in July? Sounds good to me!

I ink distressed a background in warm tones and adhered it to a kraft card base.
The snow couple was stamped, colored with Copics and cut with the matching dies,
then popped up on the card. Snowflakes and the sentiment were white embossed
on the card and some snow dots were added with a gel pen on the background.

I'm beginning to feel a bit cooler now. Thanks for stopping by!

Edited to add: I'm happy to share that I was one of the winners of the challenge!
