CAS(E) this Sketch 108

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 108 from former teammate Gayatri.

And here's my take on it.

I inked up Sweet Havana again and followed the sketch with a striped background
from My Favorite Things. I love how the colors pop against the black stripes.

Please stop by CAS(E) this Sketch to see how my teammates interpreted the sketch
and join us if you can. Link up your card(s) by Thursday, February 5th.

Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge 11--LOVE

It took me to reach Challenge 11 to finally enter Simon Says Stamp's Flickr Challenge.
The theme is LOVE and it was the perfect time for me to use new Simon goodies.

The Sketch Heart was die cut from a piece of watercolored scrap and
I puzzle pieced a contrasting color for the inner part of the heart.

I doubled up the die cut sentiment from metallic gold cardstock and the dots
and sentiment are from the coordinating stamp set.

And that's a wrap. Thanks for stopping by today!

So Very Thankful

Today I'm sharing a card that uses a new sentiment stamp from Hero Arts
featuring the awesome handwriting of Kelly Rasmussen.

The sentiment was white embossed, then ink distressed in ombré fashion
with mid tone inks. The bokeh effect was made with second generation stamping
and using Hero Arts Unicorn White ink for added depth and dimension.

All stamps from the new 2015 Spring Catalog will start shipping to retail stores
on February 2nd, and on sale in the Hero Arts online store on February 17th.
It will be worth the wait!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Floral Vines & Water

Hero Arts' stencils come in the newest and trendiest designs.
Check them out here.
For my card I used Floral Vines from Basic Grey's J'Adore line and a bit of H2O.

After ink distressing a piece of watercolor cardstock, I spritzed a bit of water
on the back of the stencil and lay it on the inked surface.
I left it on for a few seconds so the water would take away some of the color
under the stencil. I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I like the effect.

I cut the panel at a tilted angle and added a gold embossed sentiment on vellum.
A few gold sequins finished off the card.

I hope you'll give this technique a try. It's quite forgiving and
you won't get the same results twice. And it's always a surprise when you lift the stencil!

The Card Concept 27--LOVE

I'm playing with The Card Concept Challenge #27 and here's the inspiration photo.

I created a card in the Clean and Simple style. My inspiration?
The woodgrain and ombré letters.

I ink distressed white cardstock in three colors of Distress ink before cutting out
the sentiment several times and layering them. The tiny hearts are from
an Avery Elle set and the "you" is from Winnie & Walter.

I should try other card styles but when the white space starts to fill up,
I get a little antsy and always resort to a CAS card. Maybe one day...

CAS(E) this Sketch 107

N@ Ali creates the coolest sketches. Check out CAS(E) this Sketch 107.

Here's my simplified take on it.

I stamped and masked the pandas and heart and ink distressed the background.
The heart was colored with Copics and the sentiment is part of the set.
I'm proud to say this is a "mail friendly" one layer card, too!

Tag You're It! Challenge 13

Hello! Are you ready for more tag inspiration? It's a new year and a new term
at Tag You're It Challenge, and to kick things off, we have an awesome
guest designer joining us.....Heather Campbell! Here's her gorgeous tag.

And here's mine. I was inspired by the colors on her tag and the floral theme.

I inked up Mama Elephant's Sweet Havana and trimmed and mounted it
on a woodgrain tag. The banner sentiment is also from the set.
I finished off the tag with Pretty Pink Posh sequins and some natural hemp twine.

Visit Tag You're It Challenge blog to see how the other team members
were inspired by Heather's tag and join us if you can.
You have until Wednesday, January 28th to link up your tag.
Hope to see you in the gallery!

Edited to add: I am FINALLY entering Darnell's NBUS Challenge!
My new schtuff is the Sweet Havana stamp set. It just dawned on me that I've never
inked it up before so it qualifies for Darnell's challenge.

And since NBUS is the cue word over at CASology, I'm linking up there as well.
Thanks, Darnell!

If you've never played along with her NBUS challenge, I encourage you to visit Darnell's blog.
She's warm, welcoming, and just so much fun to visit!
You're guaranteed to leave her blog with a big smile and warm fuzzies.
