Thanks for Everything

Oh, my goodness! Between the three week stretch for CAS(E) this Sketch
and cranking out a few Hero Arts cards for CHA, I've neglected my poor blog!
I want to thank some sweet friends who sent Christmas cards, and I haven't forgotten you
but you'll be getting a New Year's card (or maybe a Valentine!) in return.

I finally signed up at Craftsy, thanks to Laura Bassen, and my newest addiction:

How fun and colorful is this?

I used a (retired) hexagon background stamp from Taylored Expressions and a ton of
distress inks because they work best with smooshing. The hybrid sentiment

Check out Craftsy today. It's not only paper crafts, but cooking, DIY projects,
sewing, and more--and maybe I'll see you in class!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy, and Crafty New Year!

One Stencil, Two Ways

There's something a little different happening on the Hero Arts blog today.
Both Mariana and I are using the same product in different ways. I haven't seen her card
and she hasn't seen mine, but here's a sneak peek of my card using the

Stop by the Hero Arts blog for the full card reveal, and instructions
on how I made it, and to see Mariana's card, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a great weekend!

CAS(E) this Sketch 104

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 104 brought to you by our teamie Leigh.

And here's my take on it.

I stamped, masked, and gold embossed the large jewel from Avery Elle onto
watercolor cardstock and colored them with Distress inks.
The cool sentiment is from WPlus9 and I added some bling with gold sequins.

Please visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see how the rest of my teammates
interpreted the sketch and join us if you can.
A heads up that this is a three week challenge so we can all enjoy the holidays
and you'll have plenty of time to join us! The deadline is 9am EST on January 8, 2015.

Happy Holidays and hope to see you next year!

Camouflage Die Cutting

I've always wanted to try--and maybe I did, once, unsuccessfully--the "camouflage" technique
shared by the uber talented Laurafadora over at Papertrey Ink for their
Make It Monday series. Have you seen her video? I wanted to give it another shot.

Here's my card.

I tried to do ombré inking, but the two red inks were pretty similar. And since I didn't have
any suitable word sentiment dies, I used Papertrey Ink's alphabet dies
for the camouflaged sentiment.

I had to chuckle after I took the photo. Doesn't my card remind you of Santa?
The white = his beard, red = his suit, black = his belt. A deconstructed Santa.

12 Tags of Christmas With a Feminine Twist--Day 9

Today I'm sharing one more tag just under the wire for Ellen Hutson's
12 Tags of Christmas With a Feminine Twist. This time, I created a tag
with inspiration from Sandy Allnock's tag shown here:

Sandy used a Copic airbrush to create her gorgeous background. Here's my tag.

I ink distressed Picked Raspberry and Chipped Sapphire on a tag, spattered it with water
and added two of the three reindeer from Memory Box. I added some falling snow with
a white pigment pen and the sentiment is from Hero Arts. As a finishing touch, I added
some Distress Glitter to the ground and a seam binding ribbon.

The tag was attached to a snow dot embossed card and now I can chalk up
another Christmas card. Yay!

And since I did a ton of ink distressing, I'm linking this up to
Virginia's View #10 which is ALL THINGS DISTRESSED.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

12 Tags of Christmas With a Feminine Twist

Since 2014 seems to be Year of the Tag for me, I'm joining Ellen Hutson's
My inspiration? Dawn Woleslagle's tag on Day 8.

Dawn is known for her amazing watercoloring so I was pleasantly surprised
to see her share a layered tag. Here's my take on her tag.

I was inspired by the black and gold and added a bit of pink to keep it ultra feminine.
I love the pink/gold combo and black is the perfect accent--even as stars!

Hoping to squeeze in another tag before the December 16th deadline.
I loved seeing the different tag styles from the guest designers--so inspiring!
