SSS Rainboot Planter

When I saw Simon Says Stamp's Rainboot Planter, it went straight to the top of
my "want" list. It was part of their April 2019 Card Kit but was sold ala carte, too.
It quickly sold out and I patiently waited for it get back in stock. And after I saw
Debby Hughes' card the waiting became a tad unbearable.

You can imagine how quickly I tore into the package when it finally arrived.

Debby did some amazing watercoloring on her die, but I resorted to masking and
ink distressing with daubers.

Of course I had to spatter some water over the boots (from the rain puddles) and white
embossed the sentiment on the side. Sadly, the sentiment is retired, but I wanted to have
a stacked sentiment and that happened to fit the spot.

This die is so much fun and I can't wait to use it again with other coloring medium.
You can find this exclusive die here in the Simon Says Stamp store.

I'm entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #121--Die-ing for
Creativity. Thanks so much for stopping by!

CAS(E) this Sketch #300

Wow! Can you believe it's our 300th sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch?
Time sure flies, and week after week we are thrilled whenever we see your
projects in the gallery.

And now on to Sketch #300 brought to you by Nathalie.

And here's my take on it.

If you're a regular follower of my blog you know that I have a stash of alcohol
ink backgrounds. Sometimes they turn out "meh" and I toss them on the side,
but this one I was hoarding for a while and finally decided to use it.

I trimmed it to fit a card base, then adhered the sentiment that was cut from
silver glitter card stock. I thought about adding sequins but decided to leave it
as CAS as possible.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see how the rest of the team interpreted Nathalie's
sketch and join us if you can. Link up your card(s) by Thursday, Dec 13th
and as the weekly winner you'll be invited to guest with us on a future sketch!

It's a STAMPtember® Block Party!

I'm joining Simon Says Stamp's STAMPtember® celebration--a month long PARTY
showcasing their newest products. Simon graciously sent me the Picture Book Donut,
another fun addition to their Storybook line.

Here's my card. What better way to celebrate STAMPtember® than with donuts?

Donuts were cut from card stock and inked to resemble plain and chocolate flavors.
Icing was cut from white, pink, and tan card stock and dark gray card stock was cut and
popped into the spaces for the eyes.

Sprinkles were added to the white and pink icing topped donuts with Copics then glazed
for a bit of texture. The donuts were piled on a Desert Storm card base. White highlights
were added to the caramel topped donut and the sentiment was white embossed on
the card. Rounded corners finished off the card.

It just wouldn't be a party without free gifts, right? I have a code to share while
you're shopping for your STAMPtember® goodies so you can grab these super cute
Doodlebug stickers and add them to your cart.
(Note: Code expires on Sept 4 at 11:59PM EST)

Visit the STAMPtember Block Party post for links to more free gifts.

It's my last week in the Designer Spotlight over at Simon Says Stamp
Wednesday Challenge.

wed-newchallenge-header
This week the challenge theme is the ever popular ANYTHING GOES. The sponsor
is Art Impressions and by now you know that you don't have to use Art Impressions
products, but if you have them, then feel free to use them!

For my project, I decided to work with products from previous weeks' sponsors:
Hero Arts, Concord & 9th, and Clearly Besotted.

I began by coloring the koi with Copic markers, after seeing this koi (by dobie256)
in the Flickr gallery. Watercolor card stock was ink distressed and I stamped the tree
ring with water, then spattered water over the inking.

The koi was adhered to the card and I pulled up the head, fins, and tail to give it
some dimension. I finished off the card with the sentiment and some sequins.

Ginormous thanks to Lols for the Designer Spotlight invitation. I had such a wonderful

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge--LAYER IT UP

wed-newchallenge-header

It's time for a new Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp! This week the
challenge theme is to LAYER IT UP, and the featured company is Concord & 9th.

You don't have to use Concord & 9th products to enter the challenge, but if you
already own them, then feel free to use them on your projects.

For this week's project, I layered Concord & 9th stamps and dies, beginning with
the tree ring that was white embossed on a gray card base. The "thanks" was cut
three times and layered to form a thick sentiment, and ink distressed in pink ombré.

The leaf was cut once each from white card stock and vellum and adhered
to the card. I trimmed the second part of the sentiment and white embossed
it on dark gray card stock, then adhered it below the "thanks". One corner of
the card was rounded off and finished with sequins.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge--ADD A SENTIMENT

Welcome back to a new Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge! This week,
the challenge is to ADD A SENTIMENT and the featured company is Clearly Besotted.

You don't have to use Clearly Besotted products to enter the challenge, but if
you have them, we'd love to see them on your projects!

I chose Clearly Besotted's Tickle My Fancy stamp set and white embossed
different feathers on watercolor card stock. I ink distressed over the feathers in
green and blue distress inks then spattered water and white paint.

The panel was trimmed and adhered to a gray card base. I added a strip of
black and white diagonal striped paper and white embossed the sentiment on
a piece of black card stock. I rounded off the corners of the sentiment strip
and popped it up on the card. Clear sequins finished off the card.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge--USE PATTERNED PAPER

(Note: For my MFT Wed Sketch Challenge post, please click here or scroll down)

* * *

Are you ready for a new Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
This week the challenge is to use PATTERNED PAPER and the featured company
is Doodlebug Designs. You don't have to use Doodlebug papers to enter, but if
you own them, then feel free to use them!

For my card, I used Doodlebug's Gingham-Linen Rainbow Petite Prints, and paired it
with Paper Smooches' Cozy Coffee cup. I created a 4x6 card base since I wanted to
use three cups on the card. The cup pieces were cut and ink distressed and I used
patterned papers for the cozy portion of the cups.

The sentiment from What's Brewing was white embossed and adhered to the card.
The card was finished off with a few enamel dots.
Visit Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog for all the details and deadlines
on this week's challenge. Grab your patterned papers and join us and you could
be the random winner of a $50 Simon Says Stamp gift voucher!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge January Designer Spotlight

(Note: For my MFT Wed Sketch Challenge post, please click here or scroll down.
Thank you!)

wed-designerspotlight-header
 Happy New Year!
I'm super excited to be invited back in Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge
Designer Spotlight for January. It's such a great way to start the New Year!

This week the challenge theme is SOMETHING NEW and we are using Hero Arts
products on our projects. You don't have to use Hero Arts on your projects, but if you
have some, then feel free to use them in the challenge.

For my project, I did the inlay die cutting technique with the gorgeous
Hero Arts koi. After stamping the sentiment on a Bristol card base, I die cut
the koi through the panel. I used a combination of Zig markers and gold
watercolors to color the koi.

Three more koi were cut from white card stock and adhered together with the
colored koi on the top. The panel was adhered to a black card base and the koi
was popped into the negative space. Gold spatters and dots from a black
Gelly roll pen finished off the card.

Simon Says Stamp Die-cember 2017 Release

I LOVE dies, so I'm super excited that Simon Says Stamp's Die-cember release
is here! They kindly sent me a die to play with--Sensational Snowflakes--and I managed
to create a colorful card with it.

I was trying to channel Yoonsun and the way she adds watercoloring to her
diecut images. I cut out several snowflakes and adhered them to a watercolor
card, then pounced on some Distress inks and went over them with a waterbrush.

The sentiment was cut from glittery green card stock and adhered to the card
and finished off with sequins.

Visit the Simon Says Stamp Store to see the entire Die-cember release!
Happy shopping!

CAS(E) this Sketch #244

Chrissy brings us this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #244.

And here's my take on it--a card made with all dies.

Two maple leaves were ink distressed and adhered to a kraft card base.
Since I wanted them to hang over the edge, I trimmed the card so it would
still fit into an A2 envelope. The sentiment was cut from brown card stock
and adhered to the leaves. The card was finished off with a few enamel dots.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see how the rest of the team interpreted the
sketch and join us if you can. Link up your card(s) by Thursday, Oct 26th
and as the weekly winner, you'll be invited to join us on a future challenge!

I'll also be linking this card to Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge--

SSS One of a Kind Release

One of a Kind is Simon Says Stamp's newest release and they kindly sent me
a gorgeous die--Frond Collage--to play with.
Here's my project using the die.

After cutting out the die on a watercolor card stock panel, I colored in the image
with Copic markers. The sentiment was white embossed on vellum and adhered
behind the opening of the die.

The panel was adhered to a gray card base with dimensional adhesive, and Sparkling
Clear sequins finished off the card.

You can find this die, and the entire One of a Kind release on sale now in the
Simon Says Stamp store!
