Hello, friends! So I finally "caught on" to velveteen stamping and I must say, it's quite addicting! It took me a while to finally watch the amazing Shari Carroll demonstrate this technique here, which she stumbled upon quite by accident. A happy accident!
You basically stamp a background in white ink, then stamp over it with some solid stamps and the background shows through with a ghostlike, velvety look. It's pretty cool!
I didn't have the Unicorn ink that Shari used, but went with Papertrey Ink's Fresh Snow which seemed to work well. I used three sizes of the starburst flower from Hero Arts which has a semi solid surface. The largest flower shows the velveteen background the best--much better in person.
I added pops of pink along with the neutral browns and loosely followed one of the Hero Arts sketches for this month's challenge. I rounded off the corners of the card and the sentiment, which was attached with some dimensional tape.
I'd like to try this with different color combos, and I'm looking through my stamps to find more solid surfaces to work with.
Thanks for visiting today! Continue to have a wonderful week!
