Paper Smooches Final Challenge--ANYTHING GOES

Paper Smooches has closed the door on its store and I'm playing in their very 

last challenge with the theme of ANYTHING GOES.

My card uses the amazing Succulent Stencil that I'm inking up for the very 

first time, together with a sentiment from Inhale Exhale.

There's a bit of sadness in the air since Kim announced her retirement and the
store quickly sold out of her trademark images and sentiments. I can proudly say
that I've built up a collection of Paper Smooches goodies and could probably open
up my very own store!

So while I'm sad there won't be any new items, I can still play with my inventory
for years to come. Many thanks to Kim and the design teams, past and present, for all
the inspiration they provided and the joy Paper Smooches brought into our lives.

Ready for a new CAS(E) this Sketch? Here's Sketch #387--a little something from me.

And here's what I came up with.

I swooshed some color on the card and adhered the die cut sentiment.
The secondary sentiment was stamped beneath it and finished off with
three stars and a rounded corner.

I went the festive route, using The Greetery's Pinwheel Party Stencil.

After stenciling them in rainbow order, I spattered on some gold paint

and added the sentiment. Rounded corners finished off the card.

CAS(E) this Sketch #385 -- You Got This

Meet this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #385 brought to you by Chrissy.

And here's my take on her sketch.

I kept it pretty simple with a stitched circle die backed with an ink
distressed panel that was stamped with a sentiment. The card was finished
off with some sequins and a rounded off corner.

Let the Sparkle Begin With Spellbinders

My friends at Spellbinders sent me a few goodies to play with from their new

SPARKLING CHRISTMAS COLLECTION which went live on August 10th.

I chose S4-1064 Kaleidoscope Christmas Tree and S4-1065 Christmas Mix and 
Match Sentiments which paired perfectly together.

The Christmas Tree is a set of three dies that layer beautifully to form a
simple or intricate tree, complete with a star topper. After die cutting the
pieces, I inked them up in cool greens and blues in ombré fashion, then
spattered them with gold ink.

I layered two of the pieces and adhered the star which was cut from gold
card stock. The sentiment was also cut from gold card stock and I assembled
the tree and sentiment on a black card base for a dramatic holiday look.

For my second project I changed up the colors on the pieces and layered only
two of the three trees. I cut the script sentiment out of gold card stock and
stamped a secondary sentiment above it. Sequins finished off the tree and card.

Here's Sketch #384 which was Sketch #45 back in 2013.

Meet my straightforward take on the sketch, 7 years ago.

And here's my 2020 version featuring a fun pair of mermaid tails.

I gold embossed a mermaid tail twice, then used daubers to color them in.
Before adhering them to a card base, I dry embossed the background with
an old stencil that resembled splashes of water. I adhered the tails per
the sketch, stamped the sentiment, and added some clear drops.

And here's my interpretation, although I think it lost its CAS status.

I was intrigued with teammie Michele's stenciled pool water that she 

learned from MFT's Laura Dovalo. I wanted to try it but like Michele, didn't
own the stencil, so I found a discontinued one from MFT called COW PRINT.

I wasn't super happy with the result (does it look more like jellyfish?) but
having three cute chickies poolside really help. I added the Mama
Elephant sentiment and called it done.

Paper Smooches -- COLOR POP

Paper Smooches challenge for the second half of July is COLOR POP, using
just black and white with a pop of color on your project.

 

I may have missed the mark on this but here's what I came up with.

 

I knew that I wanted to use the orca because it's already a black and white
mammal, so I decided the "pop of color" would be the ocean. I tore some
low tack tape so I'd get the ragged edges and ink blended and spattered a
small patch of blue.

I popped up the orca, added the splashes above him, and stamped the
two part sentiment. I'm still not too sure about this. I'll go through my
Paper Smooches stash and may try again....Thanks for stopping by!

Ready for a new CAS(E) this Sketch? This little number comes from Nathalie.

Meet Sketch #382.

Here's my take on it.

Clean and simple this week, and that makes my heart happy. I assembled
the cupcake and added some Stickles to the candle flame. The sentiment
was stamped onto a green scrap that was inked on the bottom. I adhered
everything to a kraft card base and rounded off one corner.

Yes, the candle is sticking up a little higher than the top of the card, but

I've trimmed off a quarter of an inch from the bottom and side so it will fit

in an A2 size envelope. Honest. I checked.

with TONS of interpretations. We'd love to see yours! First, meet the sketch.

Here's what I came up with.

Yep, I used the Altenew washi tape AGAIN, but this time adhered it to
light pink card stock for a different look. I also discovered my stash of
embossing folders that were long neglected.

I adhered the washi panel and white embossed the sentiment on pink card
stock then added some shading on the bottom for an ombré look. Sequins
finished off the card.
