MFT March Release Countdown--Day 4

It's Day 4 of My Favorite Things March Release Countdown and this month,
Birdie Brown introduces Strike Up the Band.

Both of my daughters were "band geeks" in high school and I'm proud to say that
they represented Hawaii and marched in the Rose Bowl and Macy's Thanksgiving
Parades. So today I'm sharing two cards to remember those happy occasions.

For both cards, I inked Distress and dye inks on watercolor card stock, then spattered
water over the surface. After they were dry, I cut them with Wonky Stitched Rectangles.

All the band members were stamped and die cut with the matching dies. I was
planning to leave them uncolored, but decided to add just a hint of color with Copics.
Enamel dots and sequins finished off both cards.

Stop by today's countdown post at My Favorite Things for more peeks of the new
release, and leave a comment there for your chance to win a $75 gift voucher!
Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. I love your cards, and so would my high schooler who marches in the school band! I really like how you did the backgrounds :-)

  2. Very cute, the sentiments are great with the stamps.

  3. Both colorful cards are so cute! This MFT stamp/die set is so CUTE!

  4. Clever use of bright backgrounds to show off the band- great combination!

  5. Donna!! I LOVE how you've colored those rabbits! In the style of Beatrix Potter I think - ever so soft colors, so their 'music' comes on with a bang of color! Wow. How ever did you decide this? Genius, I'm tellin' ya! xxx

  6. Such sweet cards! Your subtle coloring on the mice is perfect!

  7. Gosh Donna, these are so sweet. Absolutely beautiful collaring - the background and the marching bunnies :-)

  8. This stamp set is so darn cute and the cards everyone is making with it are so fun. Thanks for sharing with us.

  9. Those little mice look like they are having such a good time!

  10. Great backgrounds for these cute mice.

  11. So cute, I love those little marching bunnies!!!

  12. Fantastic backgrounds & subtle layer! Love it!

  13. These are such happy images...and you sure make them come to life with your amazing inking! LOVE!

  14. These are both so adorable!! Your backgrounds are so pretty and colorful! That is so neat that your daughters were in the Macy's Day parade!!

  15. Totally smitten with your *March(ing) Hares* cards, Donna! Love that you were inspired by your daughters' 'band geek' days; they performed in some amazing events!
