Paper Smooches April #1 PASTEL Color Story

It's a PASTEL Color Story Challenge for the first half of April at Paper Smooches

and here's the color palette.

And here's my card for the challenge.

Notice the Hearts Stencil background? It's remnants from two cards that I couldn't 

bear to throw away. The two pieces were joined and adhered to a gray panel then 

adhered to a white card base.

I stamped the two part sentiment on each half and finished off the card with some
clear sequins.

CAS(E) this Sketch #366

Teammie Brian brings us this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #366.

I've been staring at a new pad of Memory Box papers and decided this was
a good time to use them.

Two patterned papers were trimmed per the sketch and adhered to a card

base. Another piece was flipped to the solid side and trimmed and adhered

to the card. A stamped sentiment and sequins finished off the card.

Stay Crafty with Hero Arts

It's a breath of fresh air to see Hero Arts bring back challenges again! I remember

their earliest challenges when you had to physically send in your card/project via

snail mail to the company.  Then there were Flickr challenges where I met my 

first stamping friends, many of whom I still keep in touch with today.

Fast forward to 2020 with weekly "Stay Crafty" challenges with different themes.

I missed the first challenge last week and was determined to play along this week.

So the challenge is to use stamps and or dies that you bought and have never used

yet, or even opened up the packaging! Sound familiar? Here's my card using their

January 2020 My Monthly Hero Card Kit which I just HAD to have but misplaced 

it when I did some New Year's cleaning.

I loved the newsprint floral wrap and assembled that first. All the flowers and

leaves were die cut from white card stock and colored with Copic markers. 

I tucked an arrangement inside the wrap and adhered it to a woodgrain panel.

The panel was adhered to a green card base, topped with the white embossed

sentiment, then finished off with clear sequins. 

I'm so glad that I found this challenge and that I got to open the kit and finally

made a card. And I'm pretty sure it won't be my last!

CASology Week #364--TEA

The cue word for CASology Week #364 is TEA.

Are you a fan of tea? I am! A HUGE fan. Mostly hoji-cha with a roasted flavor

and matcha (green tea). And it doesn't have to be in drinkable form, either. 😉

Here's my card.

I adhered Altenew's Painted Fantasy washi tape to white card stock and die cut

MFT's tea cups in opposite directions. The cups were stacked and adhered to a

white card base and the sentiment was stamped beneath them. I finished off the

card with a strip of pale gray patterned paper.

CAS(E) this Sketch #365--You Are Amazing

Chrissy brings us this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #365.

 How cool is this one?

I pretty much followed the sketch with a (retired) pad of Pink Paislee papers.

Must be my recent trip to Japan that inspired me--doesn't this have a "kimono"

feel to it? I should have cut the two larger pieces so they weren't so symmetrical 

but those were the last pieces in the pack so I just went with it.

I stamped and die cut the "you" and white embossed the secondary sentiment,

adhered them to the card and called it done.

MFT Birthday Project Challenge--Flowers

This theme for this month's MFT's Birthday Project Challenge is FLOWERS.

I'm not a "flower person" but decided to join the challenge so I could use the new
Freshly Picked Die-namics on my project.

This die is genius! Besides the watering can, there's a single piece that consists of

flowers and stems so you don't have to fuss with the arrangement. I die cut the 

floral arrangement from green card stock, and added shading with Copic markers.

The rest of the flowers and foliage were cut from white card stock, colored, then

layered over the respective flowers and leaves. The watering can was cut from gray
card stock and distressed with white pigment ink.

 I stamped the sentiment, added a strip of patterned paper, then adhered the
arrangement. Clear droplets finished off the card.

I do remember entering, and here was my super literal take on the sketch.

Memory Box Cups of Cheer (retired) were cut and inked and adhered to a card base.
The pink mug was popped up and the steam and sentiment were added. A rounded
off corner finished off the card.

CAS(E) this Sketch #363

Here's this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #363.

And here's my take on it.

I had several ideas and came across the Happy Birthday collaborative set by
the Stamping Village, that had the perfect images--a small flower and
sentiment from Altenew.

I stamped and fussy cut the flowers, stamped the sentiment and adhered the
flowers after adding on the striped patterned paper. Done!

CASology Week #363--SKYLINE

The cue word for Week #363 at CASology is SKYLINE. I have a few building
dies but wanted to try a one layer card so it was Altenew's City Scene Stencil
to the rescue.

I used five colors of Hero Arts' Reactive Inks to stencil in the buildings on the bottom of
a card base. I stamped the two part sentiment in gray ink and was ready to call it done,
but felt the buildings needed to be grounded somehow.

I scored a few lines beneath the buildings and was quite happy with the result and
that I still managed to keep it one layer 😊

CAS(E) this Sketch #362

Nathalie brings us CAS(E) this Sketch #362.

And here's my take on it. I substituted hot air balloons for the balloons
in the sketch. Sadly, Top Dog Dies has closed up shop but I received these dies
when I guested for them a few years ago and they're still a fave.

Dotted Swirls was debossed on a Grout Gray card base then topped with
the two ink distressed hot air balloons and cloud. The sentiment was clear
embossed on a strip of card stock and adhered to the card.
