I am thrilled to be guest designing on Virginia's View Challenge!
This month's challenge is TAGS & SCRAPLINGS and there's a little twist:
You must use a recycled item somewhere on your project.
A while back I was really into scraplings. I would say I had "scrapling-itis"
and there were actual challenges dedicated to scraplings. Here are a few of mine.
and there were actual challenges dedicated to scraplings. Here are a few of mine.
The term "scrapling" was coined by the creative SHARI CARROLL. She was creating
a square card from an A2 sized card and to do this, she trimmed off 1.25" from the fold.
Being the genius that she is, she picked up that little piece and a scrapling was born!
Scraplings can be used as mini cards, tags, or even bookmarks.
They can be horizontal or vertical and there are no rules when creating them.
That being said, here are mine.
I used three different sized birds from We're Expecting along with speech bubbles
from Simple Stories and a dymo label sentiment from Neat & Tangled.
Can you spot my recycled item? A coffee sleeve from Starbucks!
I used the "right" side for the scrapling in the middle and flipped it over for the other two.
I love adding texture and embellies and have items hang over the edge of the scrapling.
Please join Virginia's View Challenge with a scrapling or tag and don't forget that recycled item.
You have until Wednesday, June 18th to link up your project(s). The Top Winner,
selected from the Top 10 Favorites, will win a $25 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteI love your scrapings - all of them! The concept is all new to me being from the UK and primarily using A4 size card I'm still trying to get my head around what size scrapings are!
ReplyDeleteElaine
Hi Elaine! A scrapling size is 1.25" by 4.25". Or 3.175 cm by 10.795 cm.
DeleteBasically, it's the leftover "scrap" when you trim a folded A2 size card into a square.
Hope that helps!
Thanks! I'm off to have a go!
