a little scene

I don't know about you, but I was a bit overwhelmed on World Card Making Day.
Visiting blogs, Facebook, and stamp sites to see what everyone was sharing.
Trying to take advantage of some one day discounts, participating in challenges.

I did stumble onto Ellen Hutson's CLASSroom with several artists sharing techniques and hosting challenges with a one week deadline. Works for me!

Here is my little square card for the Scene It Challenge by Kittie Caracciolo.

I used the Modern Landscape die from Memory Box and gave it some color
with thinned out distress inks. The background card was also painted with distress inks and I mounted the landscape with some dimensional foam.
The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Here's a closer look at the colored house and trees.

I'll also be entering this in Simon Says Stamp Challenge to use dies or punches.

Thanks for visiting today!

Avery Elle Fanfare & Giveaway winner

I absolutely love the new Fanfare stamp set from Avery Elle. There's a beautiful
border stamp that reminds me of Japanese prints depicting waves.
I couldn't wait to get inky and make some cards.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to line up the design to create
the "wave" pattern. I think this is such a versatile stamp that can be used
for different occasions just by changing the ink and sentiment.

On the second card, I stamped the border on the side and paired it
with the circular design that comes in the set. I put together the sentiment
and now I have a masculine birthday card on hand.
Maybe I shouldn't have added the pearls...

CFC73--For the Girls

CASual Fridays Challenge #73--For the Girls--coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The challenge is to create a clean and simple card that celebrates
the women in your life.

My mother was a breast cancer survivor and her recovery was so inspiring to me.
My dad was very supportive and helped her with her stretching exercises so she could "Reach to Recovery". I can still picture him encouraging her to keep stretching and reaching for a marker that he would move a few inches higher every day.

Here's my card for the challenge. Papertrey Ink's butterfly fashioned with an awareness ribbon brad for the antennae, and an Ali Edwards sentiment.

I hope you'll feel inspired to join the challenge and share your card.
Thanks for stopping by today!

World Cardmaking Day 2012

Happy World Card Making Day! Today I'm sharing holiday cards that I made with
Purple Onion Design's noteblock stamps--and I have a giveaway, too!

The noteblock stamps make for quick cards. For both cards, I white embossed and
ink distressed in a variety of distress ink colors.

I added some paper punched leaves for the Thanksgiving card

and some bats to finish off the Halloween card.

Michele has graciously allowed me to giveaway a Halloween noteblock to one of my blog followers.

If you would like a chance to win the noteblock stamp, simply leave me a comment on this post from now until October 9th and I'll draw and announce a random winner on October 10th.

I'll add some extra goodies, too.

Also, for you Stacey Yacula fans, her holiday stamps will be available soon! The design team got a sneaky peek and all I can say is that they are over the top A-DORABLE!

Thanks so much for stopping by and celebrating World Card Making Day!
