Simon Says Stamp an ATC

I love making ATCs. Do you? The challenge at Simon Says Stamp is to create an ATC or a tag and here is my just-under-the-wire entry.

I just love the new Distress ink colors! I used Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers and ink distressed a 2.5" by 3.5" piece of white cardstock. I flicked on some water--love the  splotchy look!--and stamped the bicycle in Wet Cement. The sentiment was stamped in Ripe Persimmon.

I used a tiny (discontinued) flower stamp and butterfly stamp from Stampendous and did some generation stamping in the same colors to give the sky and grass some depth. I also stamped them in Fresh Snow ink to soften the colors a bit.

I like to mount my ATC on a piece of cardstock for a more finished look. And it made the ATC a little sturdier after it was spritzed and distressed.

And did you know you can cut out 10 ATCs from a standard size (8.5"x11") sheet of cardstock? Follow these diagrams from Go Make Something:

The diagrams are pretty self explanatory if you know the size of an ATC is 2.5" by 3.5" or click on the link for more detailed instructions.

Text Me

CASual Fridays Challenge #60 is Text Me, to use some text on your clean and simple card.
I immediately thought of all the newsprint stamps from Hero Arts and grabbed my fave--the Skyline.

I inked it up in Wet Cement Mid Tone shadow ink--one of my favorite neutral inks. Using this month's challenge colors from Hero Arts, I stamped the sentiment in Ripe Persimmon and the sun in Mustard Seed Distress inks.

The pink heart was made by applying Picked Raspberry Distress ink directly to some white cardstock. After it dried, I punched out a heart and covered it with Glossy Accents.

This card is dedicated to our older daughter who came home last week to attend a friend's wedding. We spent some memorable time together, and while it was sad to see her leave, her happy place is in Alabama with her hubby and sweet puppy.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

HELLO sunshine

CASual Fridays Challenge #59 is Round and Round--use two circles on your clean and simple card.

A round card base counts as a circle, so I die cut one out of watercolor paper. I thinned out some yellow Distress inks and used a paintbrush to swoosh on a replica of the sun. After it dried, I stamped the sentiment from Technique Tuesday and the card was done.

I purposely painted an abstract circle to represent the sun because my first attempt looked like a crosswise cut into a hardboiled egg. I like this version better.

Sister Stamps Release Day!

Hello, and welcome to Sister Stamps' release day! Yep, you can finally get your hands on these birthday cuties!

I made another card with cupcake girl Miyoko. She was colored with Copics and trimmed out. I stamped the hexagon border from Paper Smooches Geo Graphic set and colored them with the same colors on Miyoko's kimono. The sentiment is also from Paper Smooches and as a final touch, I added a bit of bling.

I had a few comments asking how I did the ombre effect on her kimono. Using Copics, I just blended two different colors that were side by side until they "fused" and didn't look so "stripey". Practice first on some scrap paper until you get the hang of it.

Also, the Copic colors that I used for the hair on all the images for this release were E71, E74 and E79.

All the stamps for Release #8 are now on sale at select retail locations listed on the sidebar of Sister Stamps' blog. Now hop over to see Kris' final project--I'm sure it will be awesome!

I'd like to wish Sister Stamps a Happy First Birthday and send a shout out to Jenny for inviting me to be a part of the celebration. Arigato!
