Summer Card Camp--Week 1

Summer Card Camp 2011 has begun! Check out this week's fun, summery colors.

Here's my card using Lawn Fawn's Sew Lovely stamp set and My Mind's Eye papers. I took the route that Kristina shared on gathering papers with the challenge colors first. I was so happy to find perfect color matches in the Fly a Kite and Happy Go Lucky paper pads.

The dress form was stamped on some Basic Grey papers. I also used Martha Stewart's hydrangea border punch and placed an orange gemstone on the dress form. The sentiment was embossed with white detail powder.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you're having a great week...

Playing with doilies

When I saw all the doily goodness that my uber creative friend Virginia shared here, I wanted to give doilies a try, so I pulled out my Lawn Fawn Sew Lovely and Lunar Lights stamp sets.

The dress form was stamped on some (old!) Cosmo Cricket papers, and the lanterns were stamped on some (very old!) Studio Calico papers. The background stripes are Hero Arts' Large Canvas Stripes, stamped with Antique Linen distress ink, which has become one of my fave backgrounds.

I pleated one fourth of the edge of a paper doily and that became the skirt. A few pink pearls along the waist and here's a "best dressed" dress form! Thanks for the inspiration, Virginia!

Stamps: Lawn Fawn, Hero Arts background
Cardstock: Paper Accents
Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Studio Calico
Ink: Versafine, Ranger distress ink
Other: doily, pearls, pop dots, gemstones
Finished card size is 4.25" square

And here's a heads up that Tiffany Doodles will have a blog hop from March 4th through the 6th, with a new challenge presented on the 7th. Every blog will offer prizes--me too!--so be sure to mark your calendars and hop along!

Paper Piecing with Lawn Fawn

Challenge #4 at Lawnscaping Challenge is to do some paper piecing on your card or project. I decided to ink up another Lawn Fawn set--Sew Lovely--that I've been hoarding for a while and used the same set of papers as on this card since there were leftover scraps.

After paper piecing the dress form, I decided to do a button banner but just now realize that those are HUGE buttons that look more like dinner plates? Hmmm.....

The "stars" in the background were made them with the asterisk (*) symbol from Harold's ABCs and Papertrey Ink's Vintage Cream ink. How's that for getting the most from your stamps?

Hope you're having a sunny weekend! Thanks, always, for stopping by.
