Make It Monday 161--Watercolor Splats

When I saw how Nichole Heady created her watercolor splats, I couldn't wait to get inky
with Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday Challenge. It was my first time ink distressing with
their premium dye inks and I love how the water drops have a bokeh effect.

I applied three of their inks: Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, and Harvest Gold
using the new mini ink blending tools. (Love them!)

I followed Nichole's tutorial and added drops of water in varying sizes,
white embossed the Wet Paint sentiment, then added a few butterflies that were
punched out from a second inked piece.

I'm also entering this in Moxie Fab World's Hip on Handwriting Challenge
because the paint brush sentiment is trendy and fun. And I wish that I wrote it.

Thanks for visiting today!

Styling with Stencils

I'm entering Moxie Fab World's Styling with Stencils Challenge
using the stencil stamping with water technique.

I love how water "bleaches" distress and dye inks and it's always a thrill
when you lift up the stencil because you never know what you're going to see,
and no two pieces ever turn out the same.

And you don't get to see the finished result until everything is completely dry.
I also added more color along the edges and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

happy day

(Note: Please scroll down or click here to see my CASual Fridays post! Thank you!)

I'm honored to be guesting at my friend Mariana Grigsby's blog today!
If you don't know Mariana, you'll want stop by and see her inspiring cards and layouts.
She has a wonderful style and I love her start-to-finish videos that are fun to watch.

Mariana has started having monthly themes on her blog, and February's theme is
BUTTERFLIES & HEARTS.

I was asked to create and share a card based on the theme and here it is.

See the hexagon background? I call it "water stamping with a stencil".
After ink distressing white card stock with distress inks, I spritzed some water
on a stencil and pressed it on the inked surface.

When I lifted the stencil, the wet portion took away the color
and left behind a "ghost" image. After drying the surface with a heat gun, I gold embossed
the sentiment and added some hearts and butterfly punched from gold card stock.

I'm also linking this up to the Happy for Hexagons Challenge over at
Moxie Fab World since I used a hexagon (honeycomb) stencil, as well as
Winnie & Walter's Join in to Win.

Big thanks to Mariana for having me as a guest designer,
and thank you for stopping by!

Moxie Fab Thanks

Welcome to perhaps the biggest blog hop in blog hop history for our very special friend,
CATH EDVALSON. You should have arrived here from Becky Oehlers' blog
and I hope you're ready for some serious hopping!

I remember the first time I visited Moxie Fab World and that bright blue boa caught my eye.
My card is an homage to the feathery boa and the gal who wore it so well.

I'm humbled that two of my cards that won challenges at Moxie Fab World used FEATHERS,
so I couldn't go without making a card for Cath that uses them, too.

You are a gem, Cath! And you know how much you're loved for all that you did
by creating Moxie Fab World and making it the awesome sanctuary
that it was for so many paper crafters.

Best of luck in whatever you choose to do, whether it be spending more time
with your family, or yet another Moxiefabulicious undertaking.
The best is yet to come...

Your next stop on this ginormous hop is my fab friend, JJ Bolton.
If you ever get lost, or if there's a broken link, just head back to Moxie Fab World
for the complete list of blogs.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of this historical blog hop!

Tuesday Trigger--Enthralled With Fall

I gasped when I saw this week's Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World.
Those pink and orange leaves? Gorgeous!

You see, in Hawaii, we aren't lucky enough to see the changing of the leaves.
Leaves here are either green, greenish yellow, or brown. Brown means dead.

For my card I used two distress inks, a fun sentiment set by Kelly Purkey,
and a mini maple leaf die from Avery Elle.
I mounted the piece at an angle, something I've always wanted to try
ever since I saw Laura Bassen do it and it looked so cool!

The deadline to enter is Sunday, October 27th at midnight.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
