Etsy inspired challenge #81

When I saw Virginia and Dawn's posts about the Etsy Inspired Challenge, and that Heather Ellis' Digi Stamp Characters was the sponsor, I wanted to give it a go.

I visited Ponder and Stitch and browsed their beautiful fabric cuffs in vintage prints.

The image is from Heather Ellis' Mouse in the House series of digital stamps. Isn't she cute? Since I have almost all (or all) of her Pure Innocence girls, I thought I'd move on to the mice and Purr Button kitties.

Faux canvas flowers and a giveaway!

As soon as I saw Kristina Werner use some canvas flowers by Jillibean Soup in her video, a little light bulb went off and I had to try and make my own.

I stamped the Dots background on Claudine Hellmuth's wonderful sticky back canvas, using the new Hero Hues chalk ink in Punch. After letting it dry, I used a Nestabilities flower set and cut them out. Added a button and I was quite pleased with the result!

I wish that I used some type of acrylic paint so the dots would be darker, and maybe YOU can try and make some.

Yep, I'm giving away a pack of sticky back canvas and a Dot background cling stamp to one lucky person.

Even if you don't make these faux Jillibean Soup flowers, the canvas is a great surface to stamp on and takes all types of medium really well. And the Nestabilities cuts through the canvas cleanly, too. I'm also planning to die cut some butterflies soon...

Sweet Home Alabama

Joy and Jared have left the islands and are now back in Alabama. Yes, we did the "ugly cry" at the airport and then burst out laughing because we looked so hideous! Their flight was boarding by the time we parked the cars, so it was a quick goodbye and all I could think was, "Have a safe trip!....Where did I put my pop dots?" I really missed crafting!

I like Jennifer McGuire's idea of giving out unannounced RAKs to random commenters. It really embodies the true meaning of a RAK! And you can spread out the love. Now I just have to find and sort out my supplies and blog candy.....

Meanwhile, here's a simple Easter card using two Pure Innocence girls. The little girl with the basket is a clear stamp from My Favorite Things, while the one with the Easter hat is a digi. I'll be sending this card to a sweet friend who'll be spending Easter away from home.

I'm still here....

We're spending as much time as we can with our daughter and her fiancé before they return to Alabama in a few days.

As much as I love having them here, I must admit to having a bit of "craft withdrawal". Here's a shot of my craft supplies which I tried to organize as I was packing up and cleaning. I can see some supplies and my hands are itchin' to stamp again!!

The good news is I will DEFINITELY be having a giveaway because I found sooooo many stamps and papers and embellies that need a good home. So, stay tuned because I'm putting together some good stuff!

Home!

It was a whirlwind 5-night stay in Las Vegas and it's good to be home again! We had to add on an hour for daylight savings and make sure we didn't miss our flight home.

The highlight for me was meeting Kelly and her hubby! We met through the Hero Arts Flickr group over two years ago and finally got to meet in person. When we met, it's like we've known each other forever!

I don't know of anyone who would bring ALL of their Copics with them on a trip, but Kelly did! She came to my hotel room and gave me a personal coloring tutorial. I got to see Kelly in action and she colors so fast! It was like having my own YouTube video in front of me!

She also brought a little goodie bag with some Prima roses, Hero Arts' gems and pearls, and hard-to-find chocolate notecards. Thanks, Kellyboo! It's a weekend I'll never forget...

After Kelly left, we shopped at different outlets and ate waaaaay too much food! We took in a free concert of The Fab, a group who performed songs from the Beatles--a blast from the past!

Today we have a ton of laundry to do and prepare for our daughter and her fiancé to arrive from Alabama for a week's visit. I won't be doing too much blogging or crafting as they'll be staying in my craft room! I'll just have to put up with it for a week but it'll be worth it to have her home for a short while.

To help celebrate her birthday, Marie, the owner of The Greeting Farm, offered Audrey as a free digi for a short time. And I grabbed her!

I tried to replicate a camouflage pattern on her cap by using several different Copic colors. I paired her up with my kids' quotes stamps, and the best part is that I got them on clearance at Target!

This will be my last post for a while. Tonight we leave for Las Vegas and we'll be meeting Kelly and her hubby who'll be driving in from California.

I haven't decided if I'll bring my laptop but I do have an iPhone to keep up with any updates. Bye for now!

Sweet Charlotte

When I saw this card by my Flickr friend Cheryl, I knew that I had to get Charlotte. I love her smirky grin and coloring her was so much fun. I was going in a vintage direction but once I added the pinks and yellows, she started to look a little....sweet.

I'm liking these slightly bigger 5x5" cards. Thanks to my sweet friend Alice, who turned me on to making my cards a little bigger. And I love sewing around the edges (I only have yellow thread in the machine!) and distressing them. Baby steps towards zigzag stitching!

Happy Birthday, Alice!

What a happy coincidence that I colored this Alice just in time to wish my sweet and talented friend Alice a Happy Birthday!

This is the digital stamp set from The Greeting Farm which was formerly sold in rubber, and recently turned into a digi. It also coincides with the premiere of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Did anyone see it yet? It looks very whimsical and very Tim Burton-ish. And you gotta love Johnny Depp!

And Alice is having an awesome giveaway in honor of her birthday with what looks like some of her favorite things. She's even thrown in some of her amazing handmade crocheted flowers! Simply leave her a comment here and she'll have a random drawing which closes on March 13th.

New Pure Innocence

My Favorite Things recently released some new Pure Innocence images and I really wanted this stamp all because of her pigtails. How cute is she?

I think most moms with daughters probably did this--grabbed whatever little hair they had and fashioned some pigtails...I know I did!

As I was passing through Target, this book caught my eye and I snapped the photo with my iPhone. Apologies for the bad photo!

I was wondering if I could replicate this look of simply highlighting certain parts of an image with a white Prisma pencil on kraft.

Here's what I came up with. What do you think?

It was fast and I liked the fact that I could use my Prismas again. They've been so neglected ever since Copics took over my craft table and I love the look of colored pencils on kraft.

I was thrilled when I found out I would be Kelly's recipient and she didn't disappoint me with this adorable card.

Her coloring and attention to detail is amazing...

I'm equally excited because in a couple of weeks, I'm going to meet Kelly and her hubby in Las Vegas! She'll be passing through on her way to Arizona for her birthday and we'll finally get to meet in person...I just can't wait!
