MFT & Friends--June 2018 Release

For this month's MFT & Friends I chose to share a project with Beach Buds
and remind you about a special MFT campaign during the month of June.

When you purchase this set, know that it benefits a worthwhile cause because
the ocean is, in some way, an integral part of all our lives.

The pelican was stamped, colored with Copics and cut with the matching dies.
I fashioned a pier post using Whimsical Woodgrain on kraft card stock. The
sentiment was white embossed and cut apart in segments.

An ocean background was created on Yupo paper with alcohol inks and trimmed
with the wonky stitched die. The pelican and post were popped up on the card and

the sentiment was adhered next to them. Sequins finished off the card.

CAS(E) this Sketch #275

CAS(E) this Sketch #275 is a retro one from founder Jackie Rockwell.

I missed playing with this sketch back in 2012. Here's my 2018 take.

I pretty much followed the sketch and even managed to use some flowers.
The circle was cut with a Peek-a-Boo Window and I added some Stitched
Blooms. The stamped sentiment finished off the card.

MFT June Just Add Color

This month, like I almost always do, I colored the Pure Innocence Beach Cutie
first and I was pretty proud with how her ombré outfit turned out.

But it was the Toucan Do It set that I enjoyed coloring the most. By no means am
I a coloring expert. I don't pay much attention to where the light source is coming
from or where the shadows should fall. I just enjoy coloring (most of the time!)
and if an image looks "flat" after I've colored it, I add more shading or highlight
with a white pigment pen.

I don't have the exact Copic marker colors that I used, but I can tell you
that the dark toucan was colored with C markers and the other birds were
colored with an assortment of B's and BG markers. I used a white Gelly Roll
pen on most of them for added highlights.

I added a bit of color around their pupils and a dot of highlight from a white
Gelly Roll pen which gives them a lot of character.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #388

Here's this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #388.

And here's my take on the sketch.

The Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot background was stamped lightly on a Natural
card base with In the Buff ink. I removed the center stitching portion of the
Scallop Cross Stitch tag and cut the tag from woodgrain card stock.

Painted Flowers and leaves were popped up on the tag and the sentiment
was white embossed on a fishtail strip of black card stock. Natural hemp
cord threaded through the tag hole finished off the card.

MFT June New Product Launch and Release

My Favorite Things New Product Launch and Release Day is here!

I'm sharing one more project with you to possibly add to your shopping list.
The Fireworks Display Die-namics adds celebratory fun to any occasion,
not just the traditional holidays.

After die-cutting the Fireworks Display from Steel Grey card stock, I roughly

measured the size of the color burst. Using Zig markers and a water brush, I colored

a bulls-eye shape on watercolor card stock to place behind the die cut openings.

Our Town was die cut from Steel Grey card stock and highlighted with white
pigment ink. After the piece was dried, I adhered it behind the fireworks, then
on to a Steel Grey card base. The row of houses was adhered on the bottom and
the card was finished off with the silver embossed sentiment.

So there you have it--My Favorite Things June Release!

Now here's my project using the new Moroccan Mosaic Die-namics.

I had an idea of what "Moroccan" colors were but took to Google to confirm it.
Lots of rich, jewel tones which is what I chose to ink distress my background.
I spattered some water over the inked surface and trimmed it to fit a
Grout Gray card base.

The die was cut from white card stock and I used a spray adhesive to affix it
to the inked background. The sentiment was gold embossed and inked over
with Wild Honey Distress inks then popped up over the center of the die.

MFT June Release Countdown Day 2

We're two days away from My Favorite Things June Release! All new goodies
will go on sale Tuesday, June 5th at 9PM EST in the MFT Store!

Cat lovers will appreciate Meow Mix--a delightful set of whimsical kitties
that are fun to color and bring to life.

For my project, I worked backwards and chose the sentiment and then the images
to go with it. I picked the sitting kitty and colored a tabby and calico cat as the
"purrfect pair". They were cut with the matching Die-namics and set aside.

Feline fact: Did you know that all calico cats are female?

The background was made by stamping the butterfly image in the set with light
gray ink on a white card panel. The panel was adhered to a Grout Gray card base.
The sentiment was white embossed on a Sour Apple strip and popped up on
the card. I perched the two kitties on the banner and finished off with enamel dots.

MFT June Release Countdown Day 3

We're halfway through My Favorite Things July Release Countdown!

I've combined old sets and new for this month's Pure Innocence project--a
Polaroid inspired scene with a summery beach theme.

Beach Cutie was stamped and colored with Copics and cut with the matching
Die-namics. The background was made with Distress inks and a blending tool
and spattered with water. I trimmed the piece and adhered it to a white base
to resemble a Polaroid frame.

Tone on tone stamping was done with Whimsical Woodgrain background on
an In the Buff card base. I adhered the Polaroid and popped up the little girl,
some seashells, and a seagull. The stamped sentiment finished off the card.

MFT June Release Countdown Day 4

Birdie Brown has gone aquatic this month, with a cute set of Gill Friends--
fresh and salt water aquarium fish. You can also build an aquarium with the
new Aquarium Die-namics to give your fish a happy place to live.

A brick wall was stenciled on white card stock, cut with the rectangle die and
adhered to a white card base. The fish were colored with Copics and cut with
the matching Die-namics. Some color was stenciled on watercolor card stock with
the Drifts and Hills Stencil--blue for the water and beige for the sandy bottom.

I assembled the aquarium and stamped the plants and adhered the fish. The
aquarium was adhered to the brick background and I stamped the sentiments
and finished off with some googly eyes for the fish.

 When I saw the sentiments in the set, I had to make a second card. After several
unsuccessful attempts at mirror stamping, I decided to use two different fish
as the "kissers".

Smaller fish in the set were stamped with gray ink for the background. Two fish
were popped up on the card and I added the white embossed sentiment and
finished off with enamel dots. How cute is that?

2018 Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I may be the last (or nearly the last!) entry for the 2018 Spring/Summer 

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I just couldn't miss all the caffeinated fun! 

I found a piece of alcohol ink background and cut the cover and sleeve and ran the

sleeve thru a corrugator. I assembled the cup, adhered it to a panel and stamped

the sentiment. Pink and cream confetti finished off the card.
