MFT and Friends--May 2018 Release

It's time for MFT and Friends--when the Creative Team shares more inspiration

and fresh ideas with the May Release. My project uses the new Mini Rolled Roses
 dies with MFT's gorgeous wool felt and as of yesterday, all colors are back in stock!

I wanted to share the felt roses earlier, but waited for my glue gun to arrive from
Amazon. (Thanks, Steph, for suggesting this one--I love the fine tip!)

Roses were cut from Daffodil, Orange Fizz, Ripe Raspberry, and Red Hot felt
and rolled into roses. You can watch Steph roll her felt roses here on MFTv.
A Scallop Cross-Stitch Tag was cut from Latté card stock and two felt leaves
were cut from Factory Green felt.

Before adhering the tag to an In the Buff card base, tone on tone stamping was
done with the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots background. The roses and leaves were
adhered to the tag and natural jute was threaded through the tag slot. The card
was finished off with the white embossed sentiment.

Paper Garden 2018 Mother's Day Card Challenge

I'm entering Paper Garden's 2018 Mother's Day Card Challenge just under 

the wire. With all the traveling I've been doing, I almost forgot about this so 

I'm sharing it today--deadline day!

The letters for "mom" were cut from kraft card stock and I substituted a flower

for the "o". Stitched lines were embossed on a panel and the letters, flowers,

and leaves were adhered to the card. The second part of the sentiment was

stamped and the panel was adhered to a brown card base.

CAS(E) this Sketch #271

CAS(E) this Sketch #271 is a little something from me, and it looks like this.

Here's my take on it.

Clouds were stenciled on a piece of watercolor card stock and a strip of grass
was adhered on the bottom. The stork was stamped, colored with Copics, cut
with the matching Die-namics, then popped up on the card. I finished off
the card with the stamped sentiment.

MFT Just Add Color

Each month I usually color the Pure Innocence image first. I always look forward

to seeing the design of the month and the images are simple to color and always cute.

I used a combination of Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils to color this month's

I Love You a Bunch. I'll admit to being a bit lazy and just "tapped" the bouquet with 

Copics, not coloring each flower individually.

With apologies to artist Heather Ellis, I added some "bangs" on her, because I mistakenly

 colored outside the line on her forehead. I've seen some stampers like Amy Young add a 

few wisps of hair on their Pure Innocence images and I've always wanted to try that. 

And now I did!

I can hardly wait to see next month's Pure Innocence image.

MFT Wed Sketch Challenge #384

Happy Wednesday! Are you ready for this week's Wednesday Sketch Challenge?
Here's Sketch #384.

And here's my festive take on it.

It's been a while since I've used an alcohol ink background and chose this one
that had a bit of gold on it from some Deco Foil. Jessica Frost Ballas shared the
transfer technique here if you'd like to see how it's done.

I trimmed the piece, adhered the two part sentiment and finished off the card
with gold stars.

MFT May New Product Launch & Release

It's time! My Favorite Things May Release is now ready to purchase here in
the MFT Store. And comment on all team members' blogs for a chance to win
one of two $100 MFT gift vouchers.

Before you go, I have one more project to share with you to possibly add to your
shopping list.

The Scallop Cross Stitch Tag was cut from Cement Gray card stock. The tag
was dry embossed at an angle on Stone Gray card stock and the tag was
adhered at an angle over it.

Three flowers were cut from Persimmon, Coral Crush and Ripe Raspberry
card stock and formed into roses. Three leaves were cut from Limelight
card stock and inked for a bit of dimension.

The sentiment was white embossed on a Gravel Gray sentiment banner. The roses,
leaves, and sentiment strip were adhered to the tag. The card was finished off
with gray and white twine.

Layton's Legacy Blog Hop

My Favorite Things is proud to be a part of Layton's Legacy Blog Hop to honor
blogging friend Lea Lawson's son Layton and raise funds to purchase Starbucks®
gift cards.

From her own experiences, Lea knows firsthand how overwhelming and scary it can 
be to have a child in the NICU and wants to provide some comfort to parents/caregivers 
whose children are in the NICU ward of the University of Minnesota Masonic 
Children's Hospital. 

Lea has provided a mood board with a woodland theme.

Here is how I was inspired by the board, with a little green thrown in.

I used three colors of alcohol inks on Yupo paper and let the colors move with
the blending solution. It resembled mountains, sky, and grass so I stopped and let
the piece dry, then cut it with a stitched rectangle. The bear, hedgehog, and owl
were stamped, colored with Copics and cut with the matching Die-namics. Some
details were added to the bear with Prismacolor pencils.

I assembled the trees and animals on the panel, then adhered it to a Natural
card base. The card was finished off with the stamped sentiment.

MFT May Release Countdown Day 1

It's the final Countdown Day for My Favorite Things May Release!
Have you got your shopping lists ready?

Today I'm sharing Sweet Somebunny--a set with adorable bunnies who are
SHOPPING! It's the perfect theme for tomorrow's release!

If they look familiar, these cuties made an appearance last year as beach bunnies.
For the shopping scene, I ink distressed a stitched dome piece with a nighttime sky
and cement roadway. Two sets of buildings were stamped and cut with the matching
Die-namics and adhered to the dome.

I used all the bunnies for my scene. They were stamped with Extreme Black hybrid
ink, colored with Copic markers, and cut with the matching Die-namics. The dome
was adhered to a Stone Gray card base and the bunnies were popped up over it.
The card was finished off with the stamped sentiment.

MFT May Release Countdown Day 2

It's two more sleeps until My Favorite Things May Release!
Today I'm sharing a card focusing on the Dads in our lives.

Quick cards can be made, focusing on the sentiment with alcohol ink backgrounds.
I trimmed a panel down with the stitched rectangle die and cut out the DAD, then
backed it with adhesive tape and adhered it to a white card base.

DAD was cut from silver glittery card stock and the letters were popped back in
the respective spaces on the card. The sentiment was cut apart and stamped
above and beneath the "DAD".

MFT May Release Countdown Day 3

We're halfway through peeks of My Favorite Things May Release!
All new products will go on sale Tuesday, May 8th at 9PM EST.

Today I'm sharing Pure Innocence Love You a Bunch, and I think she's
perfect for Mother's Day cards and projects.

I stamped her, colored her with Copics and cut her out with the matching Die-namics.
The new Scallop Cross Stitch Tag can be cut with or without the stitching holes
and I decided to cut out the holes even though I wasn't doing any stitching.

Tone on tone stamping was done with the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots on Coral Crush
card stock. I stamped the sentiment on the tag and threaded jute through the
hole. The tag was popped up on the card at an angle, and I added the little
girl and finished off with some enamel dots.
