JUGS Word Week #788 -- BIRTHDAY

 

It's Word Week over at Just Us Girls Challenge #788 and the word is BIRTHDAY.

 

 

 

Here's how I was inspired.

 

  I thought that the birthday mug with candles inside was the cutest image and 

I know several caffeine drinkers who would appreciate it.

 I cut and colored the mug and candles and added some Stickles to the flames.

I used the new Numbers embossing folder for the background, trimmed to show

the diagonal stripes after adhering the paper to a card base. 

I adhered the mug and a white embossed sentiment. Some glittery enamel dots

finished off the card.

since I used several SSS products.

Simon Says Stamp January Flickr Challenge -- Anything Goes

 The theme for Simon Says Stamp's January 2024 Flickr Challenge is Anything Goes 

so I decided to enter a card made with some new Simon Says Stamp goodies.

 

I ordered the Printmaking Hearts Stamp and Die set which has layered stamping on

9 hearts. Feeling a bit lazy, I decided to cut out the hearts from several alcohol ink

panels that I've accumulated.
 

 The hearts were spritzed with alcohol, some gold Kuretake watercolors and I found

my ancient set of metallic rub ons that all added touches of gold. The hearts were

adhered to a kraft card base and a popped up sentiment finished off the card.

Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #200 -- Summertime Fun

 

I like to join Simon Says Stamp's Flickr Challenge whenever time permits. 

I have SO MANY SSS products that haven't been used or even opened from the

original packaging.

 

After inking the Organic Fruits diecuts I saw that the theme for their 200th challenge

 was Summertime Fun and decided to squeeze my card in before the June 30th deadline.

 

 

 

Two reverse wonky rectangles were cut from white card stock and the sentiment

was stamped on one panel, then run through a 3D embossing folder. 

The fruits were popped up on the panel, then adhered to the second panel,

forming a hinge so the card can stand on its own.

In hindsight, I should have turned one of the roundish fruits into a peach which

is more "summertime" than a pear. Oh well.

Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #193 -- Love is in the Air

I'm linking up a project to Simon Says Stamp's Flickr Challenge #193 which is 

Love is in the Air. I used some older Simon Says Stamp products which, I'm happy to

report, are still available in their online store.

 

I stenciled in hearts from their Bursting Hearts Stencil in pinks and oranges on

watercolor card stock. After spritzing on some water, I let it dry and cut out a slimline

panel mainly because I didn't want to "waste" the heart background.

The sentiment was cut from white cardstock and gold for the shadow. After adhering

the sentiment to the panel, it was finished off with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

I can now chalk up my first Valentine card for the year--it may also be my only one 😆

Mushroom House

I recently bought Simon Says Stamp's Mushroom House Wafer Die so that

the gnomes in my stash would finally have a home. 

 

At the last minute, I decided to turn this into a "miss you" card to send to my 

mother in law who is in a skilled nursing facility on another island.

 

I die cut the house from watercolor card stock, then ink distressed all the

pieces and set them aside. The background was ink distressed in two colors

to separate the sky from the ground. Grass was sketched in with Copic

markers and the two part sentiment was white embossed.

I'm hoping we'll get to see her soon, but for now, this card will have to suffice.

technique, and of course, mine is ink distressing!
