MFT 2015 Retirement Sale

Now's your chance to grab selected stamps, stencils, and dies at 50% off during
My Favorite Things Retirement Sale. There are limited quantities so you
have to act fast because once they're gone, they're GONE!

Here's a Birdie Brown cutie that's on the retirement list--Sunflower Sweetheart.
The matching set of Die-namics (sold separately) is also being retired, but I chose
to create a one layered panel card.

(Edited to add: She is officially retired and out of stock. Check the MFT store
for other great deals that are moving fast!)

She and her two feathered friends were stamped on kraft card stock and colored
with Prismacolor pencils. I added some grass with Copic markers to ground her,
and the details on her dress and flowers with a white pigment pen.

And here are a couple more cards using soon-to-be-retired products.

CAS(E) this Sketch 149

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 149, compliments of Chrissy.

And here's my take on it.

I white embossed snowflakes on watercolor paper, then brushed over them
with a mixture of Distress inks and water. After it was dried, I stamped
the sentiment and die cut the panel with the rectangle element from
Blueprints 24 which was then mounted to a white card base.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see how my teammates interpreted the sketch
and join us if you can. Link up your card(s) by Thursday, November 19th.
Hope to see you in the gallery!

Crazy Quilt

I love quilts and admire those who can put them together,
whether it's fabric or on paper. MFT teammates Yoonsun, Kay, and Julia
created the prettiest quilted cards here, here, and here, respectively.
Me? I just went a little crazy.

My grandmother's quilted blankets were my inspiration. I remember her pulling
different colored scraps from her stash and sewing them down in haphazard fashion.
Her quilts were always so colorful and you could feel the love that she put into them.

For my crazy quilt card, I started off by painting stripes of Peerless Watercolors
on watercolor card stock. After it was dried, I die cut the piece with the
Diagonal Quilt Square Cover Up Die-namics.

I also die cut some new Cement Gray cardstock and prepared a 4.25" x 4.25"
card base. I adhered the frame of the quilt die onto the card base, then simply
popped in the watercolored pieces. Easy peasy!

I added the label sentiments and finished off the card with black enamel dots.
Now that's my kind of quilt. Thanks so much for visiting!

CAS(E) this Sketch 148

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 148 brought to you by Leigh.

And here's my take on it.

I stamped a smaller than A2 sized card with the Pinstripe Background
in Versamark ink. A stitched banner was die cut from kraft card stock and
I adhered two leaves and a label sentiment that were in my stash of die cuts.
The banner was then adhered to the card.

Also, please welcome our newest design team member--Jen Mitchell

MFT November New Product Launch

It's finally here! My Favorite Things November Release is available for purchase
in the MFT Store! And you have a chance to win one of two $100 gift vouchers
just by leaving comments on all the designer's blogs.

Before you go, I'd like to share a couple of projects using Get Toasty. I just love
the punny sentiments that pair well with the toasted marshmallows!

For the first card, white card stock was ink distressed with several dye inks,
then spattered with water. The marshmallows and skewers were die cut,
and some shading was added to the marshmallows.

All the images were adhered to the panel and I stamped the sentiment beneath it.
The panel was then adhered to a brown card base.

Next up, I used the Large Grid Stencil and sponged several colors of dye inks
in campfire colors. I spattered some white ink over it and die cut a panel
with the rectangle element from Blueprints 24.

I arranged the toasted marshmallows and finished off with the sentiment
then adhered the panel to a white card base. And now I'm craving s'mores.

Be sure to visit all the designers for one last look at the November release
and leave comments on their blogs for your chance to win one of two $100
gift vouchers to the MFT Store! You can find all the spankin' new stuff HERE.
