This month's featured technique at Hero Arts is handmade flowers. For my card, I made mine by following Dawn McVey's great video tutorial. I stamped Hero Arts' small solid flower in Picked Raspberry distress ink and punched out three circles with a scalloped circle punch. 

After crumpling the circles, I layered them together and added a button. My flowers aren't as "poofy" as Dawn's because she used text paper and I used cardstock. The leaves were handcut after stamping the same flower with Peeled Paint distress ink.

I stamped the Houndstooth pattern on kraft cardstock with brown shadow ink, and the sentiment was stamped with a mid tone shadow ink.

Deasy's Sweet Treats Giveaway

Hello friends! My sweet friend Melania Deasy asked me to introduce her new digital stamp set called Sweet Treats, now on sale in her digital shop. I was thrilled to be asked and I'd like to share my cards with you.

Here's my first card. Before I printed the little girl, I flipped one of the images to create two BFFs. Both girls were colored with Copics and trimmed out. The girls are supposed to be leaning on a table, but after I printed out the tabletop on some green patterned paper (because I was too lazy to color it!) I thought it looked like they were lounging on some grass. 

I added the Hero Arts sentiment and some fun Martha Stewart butterflies. I think they're supposed to be waitresses in the sweets shop, so let's pretend they're outdoors on a lunch break.

My second card uses the coffee cup image. Once again I printed out two cups and flipped one to face the other way. I added the punny sentiment and used some Liquid Pearls to represent the foamy layer of a latté.

The heart border background is by Lawn Fawn, and I hand dyed the seam binding with Vintage Photo distress ink.

Hooked on Hexagons

Are you hooked on hexagons? There's a challenge at Moxie Fab World to use hexagons on your project. 

I pulled out the mini hexagon stamp set from Papertrey Ink and inked them up with Distress inks. Because I eyeballed the spacing between each hexagon, it's not perfect placement, but I'm happy with how it turned out after five tries.

I could have used any sentiment to go with the design, but chose the one that came with the set and added a gemstone for a bit of bling. Done!

I may give this challenge another try since I have a few ideas for some hexagon dies that haven't been used yet. If you're into the hexagon trend, you'll want to give this challenge a go. The deadline to upload your projects is July 30th. Go here for all the details.
