CASology Week #363--SKYLINE

The cue word for Week #363 at CASology is SKYLINE. I have a few building
dies but wanted to try a one layer card so it was Altenew's City Scene Stencil
to the rescue.

I used five colors of Hero Arts' Reactive Inks to stencil in the buildings on the bottom of
a card base. I stamped the two part sentiment in gray ink and was ready to call it done,
but felt the buildings needed to be grounded somehow.

I scored a few lines beneath the buildings and was quite happy with the result and
that I still managed to keep it one layer 😊

CAS(E) this Sketch #362

Nathalie brings us CAS(E) this Sketch #362.

And here's my take on it. I substituted hot air balloons for the balloons
in the sketch. Sadly, Top Dog Dies has closed up shop but I received these dies
when I guested for them a few years ago and they're still a fave.

Dotted Swirls was debossed on a Grout Gray card base then topped with
the two ink distressed hot air balloons and cloud. The sentiment was clear
embossed on a strip of card stock and adhered to the card.

CAS(E) this Sketch #361--You're Lookin' Sharp!

Here's Sketch #361, compliments of teammie Brian.

I simplified it a bit while staying pretty close to the sketch.

The cacti were stamped, colored with Copics and cut out with the matching
dies. A kraft card base was stamped with a woodgrain pattern, then topped
with the white embossed sentiment and the popped up cacti.

Simon Says Stamp Wed Challenge--Add a Sentiment

The current Wednesday Challenge over at Simon Says Stamp is to ADD A 

SENTIMENT. Using Hero Arts products is encouraged if you have them, and I 

happened to have some that I'm using for the very first time.

Hero Arts Garden Fancy Die was centered and cut through a white panel.

Hero Arts Reactive Inks were inked on a watercolor panel and spattered with 

water. When the panel was dried, I layered the frame over the inked piece, then

stamped the sentiment through the opening.

Patterned paper was adhered to a card base and the die cut panel was adhered

over it. Black enamel dots and a dot for the bird's eye finished off the card.

I'm glad that I could use a sentiment that was part of a totally different set

that was perfect for my card and the challenge.

You're My (Prickly) Person

February's end-of-the-month challenge at Paper Smooches is a COLOR STORY.

Check out the color palette.

I'll have to admit being a little overwhelmed because I'm such a wimp with color.

Then I realized the colors come from their Rainbow Sherbet paper pad and breathed

a small sigh of relief.

The three cacti were in my stash of diecuts and I added shading around the edges for

a bit of dimension. The two outer pots were cut from white card stock, inked then

spattered with water. The center pot was cut from the Rainbow Sherbet paper pad 

and inked and spattered with Cracked Pistachio Distress ink.

I added the thorns, flowers and buds, and the pair of eyeglasses and face. The cacti

and pots were grounded with a strip of paper from the Half Moon paper pad and the

card was finished off with the sentiment.

I'm afraid my colors aren't exact, but "close enough" I think, for the challenge.

Here's how I interpreted the sketch--with more stenciled hearts.

Have you seen Simon Says Stamp's Bursting Hearts Stencil? It's HUGE!

I lay the stencil on a white card base and inked in the hearts with Hero Arts

Reactive Inks. It looked a little too plain, so I did some "second generation"

stenciling and used whatever residual ink that was left on the tools.

Since it's a week past Valentine's Day, I turned it into a thank you card using

an older SSS sentiment set. Yay for a one layer card!

Here's a retro sketch, CAS(E) this Sketch #359. Click on the link to see
how the design team interpreted it back in 2012.

I thought I had a card to share from 2012 but after searching throughout my
blog and other accounts, I see that I don't. So here's my 2020 version.

I clear embossed the sentiment on white card stock, ink distressed in ombré pinks
then trimmed it to a banner. I scored some lines on the bottom and added five
hearts on the side. The piece was then popped up on a doily embossed background.

Paper Smooches February Challenge--LOVE

Paper Smooches February Challenge theme for the first half of the month is...

My order from Paper Smooches arrived with perfect timing and I decided to use

the new Hearts Stencil on my card.

I originally planned to have a background with different shades of pink hearts,
but decided at the last minute to go rainbow with Hero Arts Reactive Inks.

The panel was trimmed and adhered to a white card base. I chose the label
sentiment and finished off the card with a few sequins.

If time permits, I'm thinking of giving the pink hearts background a try.

CAS(E) this Sketch #358

Here's this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #358, 

I went rogue and turned the sketch 90° clockwise and substituted the rainboot planter
for the rectangular element on the sketch.

The rainboot diecut was colored with a combination of Copic markers and colored 

pencils. A strip of patterned paper was adhered to a white card base and the boot was

popped up over it. I stamped the sentiment then added some faux rain drops on the boot.

CASology Week #361--Guest Designer

I have the honor of guesting for this week's CASology challenge since my card 

was chosen as the BRANCH winner for week #358. Thank you, Melissa!

Here's the cue word for this week--just in time for Valentine's Day.

And here's my take on the cue word.

I stamped the adorable hedgie off center on a white card base and colored
her with Copic markers. I white embossed the sentiment on the balloon,
 added a few clouds, then rounded off the bottom corners.

By using one main image and placing it off center, this gives the illusion of
more white space, even with the addition of die cut clouds.
