MFT February Release Replay

It's February's Release Replay! Time for the My Favorite Things design team
to share some fresh new ideas and inspiration with latest release.

I'm sharing two cards geared towards the more "mature" recipient, using the fun
animals from Farm-tastic. And I created some inky backgrounds using MFT's
brilliant dye inks, with a technique that I'm calling "faux watercoloring".

First, here are the cards.

I know a few spring chickens who I could send this to. (Wink!) The chicken
was loosely colored with Zig markers and die cut with the matching dies.
I perched her on the Farm Fence and adhered them to a "sunrise" inked panel.

Next up is a get well card using Zig markers and loose watercoloring on the horse
and Copics for the apples. This time I adhered the fence, horse, and apples on
a blue and green inked panel that resembles a pasture.

Here's how I created the backgrounds. I ink distressed two or more colors of MFT's dye inks 

with a mini ink blending tool on watercolor card stock.

Vary the amount of pressure when inking, then splash on a liberal amount of water.
Let the drops sit for a few seconds, then press a paper towel over it to pick up the water.
I love how MFT dye inks react to water and the spatters give depth to the background.
Keep a bunch of these panels on hand for quick, last minute cards!

CAS(E) this Sketch 158

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 158, compliments of teammate Sam.

I turned the sketch 90 degrees clockwise, and here's what I came up with.

I'm finding any excuse to use the handsome chef from Recipe for Happiness.
I stamped the Wonky Stitched Oval with the Mini Hexagon Background and layered
the chef and soup pot. The sentiment was white embossed on a strip of red cardstock
and I added two more banner strips following the sketch.

MFT February New Product Launch & Release

Yay! Today is the day when you can purchase the spankin' new February Release

Before you run, let me share one last card with you. I'm using the cute cloud
and sentiment from Lucky together with the Stitched Rainbow Die-namics.

I created another atypical rainbow by using three colors of Distress inks

and I used only five of the six bands so the rainbow would fit on the panel.

After cutting a panel from watercolor card stock, I ink distressed a small portion

with Peacock Feathers, then spattered it with water. Three clouds were die cut and 

some shading was added on the bottom. I stamped and colored a face on one cloud

then mounted all of the pieces to the panel.

 I stamped the sentiment with Black Licorice Hybrid ink and adhered the panel 

to a Stone Gray card base. I finished off the card with some Sparkling Clear sequins.

MFT February Release Countdown Day 1

It's the last day of My Favorite Things February Release Countdown!

Are you ready with wish lists in hand?

Today I'm sharing a card with lots of rainbow goodness thanks to the new
Die-namics Stitched Rainbow, and Color the Rainbow--this month's
free die set with a minimum $60 purchase.

When I die cut the rainbow from watercolor card stock, the pieces stayed intact,
so I decided to create an atypical rainbow. I ink distressed three colors of Distress inks
across the bands, and in the process, created five colors for the rainbow. And of course,
I couldn't resist splattering a bit of water over the inking.

Three puffy clouds were die cut and I inked the bottom edges to give them a bit of
dimension. The hybrid sentiment is made up of stamps from Rainbow of Happiness
and the die cut word from Color the Rainbow. I love a mixed font sentiment!

A Stone Gray panel was cut from Blueprints 24 and I adhered all of the pieces
and attached the panel to a card base. The finishing touch were some
Sparkling Clear sequins.
