a little scene

I don't know about you, but I was a bit overwhelmed on World Card Making Day.
Visiting blogs, Facebook, and stamp sites to see what everyone was sharing.
Trying to take advantage of some one day discounts, participating in challenges.

I did stumble onto Ellen Hutson's CLASSroom with several artists sharing techniques and hosting challenges with a one week deadline. Works for me!

Here is my little square card for the Scene It Challenge by Kittie Caracciolo.

I used the Modern Landscape die from Memory Box and gave it some color
with thinned out distress inks. The background card was also painted with distress inks and I mounted the landscape with some dimensional foam.
The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Here's a closer look at the colored house and trees.

I'll also be entering this in Simon Says Stamp Challenge to use dies or punches.

Thanks for visiting today!

CASual Fridays #71--Fall Fun

CASual Fridays #71 is Fall Fun--to create a clean and simple project
inspired by autumn. Here's my take on the challenge.

A (discontinued?) Memory Box tree was inked with Crushed Olive, Wild Honey,
and Tea Dye distress inks, spritzed with water then stamped on watercolor paper.
After it dried, I stamped the Paper Smooches sentiment and rounded off a corner. Done.

Living in Hawaii, we don't get to see the changing of the leaves in fall.
Our trees have either green leaves or brown leaves.

Case in point is this tree that I'm trying to keep for sentimental reasons but
our yardman declared it "half dead". He's determined to revive it with some TLC
and if he succeeds, then he'll be getting my card.

Just under the wire, I'll be squeezing this card into Moxie Fab World's
Design Handbook Repetition Challenge.
Have a fantastic week!

CASology #11--White

CASology's cue card this week is "white". Here's my take on the challenge.

I used Memory Box's Modern Landscape die and trimmed the piece to a sliver,
mounted it to a white card base and stamped the sentiment in gray.
Rounded off both corners and it's the fastest card I've made in a while.

Apologies for the poor photo. I always struggle with taking photos of white cards.
It doesn't help that the sun has been playing peek a boo all week.

Hope you have a sunny weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome, Lily Pad!

Hello, friends! I hope you hopped here from Vicky's fabulous blog, because I am the second stop in the inaugural Lily Pad Blog Hop! Starting today, seven blogs will be featured daily and will culminate on Friday, April 1st with the Grand Opening of Lily Pad Cards.

Lily Pad Cards is a brand new challenge blog featuring challenges, interviews, articles, videos and great prizes from some awesome sponsors. And although it doesn't officially launch until April 1, 2011, you'll see a sneak peek every day until then.

Please stop by the different blogs and be sure to comment each day, because there are three prize packages with a total retail value of $800, including a $100 gift certificate to a very popular online store! Go here for specific prize details and contest rules.

The hop's theme is "Welcome" because we're welcoming Lily Pad Cards, and welcoming all of you to come and join the fun! Here's my card.

I used Poppystamps' Bobby Bird, paired with some Brioche papers from Memory Box. To make the banner, I punched out circles from the same Brioche paper and cut them in half, then stamped HELLO, using Lawn Fawn's Harold's ABCs. (The twine was recycled from a Lawn Fawn stamp order. Thanks, Kelly Marie!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Your next stop on the hop is Amy's awesome blog. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us! If you hit a bad link, you can always go to Lily Pad Cards and click on the next link in the hop. Please report any bad links to webmaster@inklinkz.com.

Happy Hopping! See you at the Lily Pad Grand Opening on April 1st!
