Fall/Winter 2018 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

It's time! Amy and her crew have once again put together the caffeine infused hop
that we all look forward to with an amazing sponsor list that just keeps growing!

I must have felt the vibes of the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop because I made
this card in mid-October using some Lil' Inkers products for the very first time.

 I white embossed the sentiment on the cup before ink distressing it. I made a square

card and was trying to go for a chalkboard look. In hindsight, I shouldn't have spattered

it so much--it looks more like a nighttime sky.

I'm hoping to share a couple more caffeinated cards before the 7th....you, too?

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch #299, brought to you by Chrissy.

And here's how I interpreted the sketch.

Do you see it? Kinda? Sorta? I was going to fan the leaves out in a "V" shape, 

but decided to wing it at the last minute. I stamped the woodgrain design on

kraft card stock, then adhered the leaves and stamped the sentiment. The

card was finished off with a few enamel dots.

MFT Wed Sketch Challenge #413

It's time for a new MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Here's Sketch #413.

And here's how I was inspired by turning the sketch 90°.

Five Bitty Bears were stamped, colored with Copics and cut with the matching
Die-namics. I adhered a strip of dotted patterned paper and adhered the bears over
it, then finished off with the stamped sentiment. Aren't those bears the cutest?

The 25th Day of Christmas Tags 2018

I'm adding one more tag to Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags gallery with inspiration

from Eloise Blue. The last sponsor is Hello Bluebird and I found a set that I bought months

ago that wasn't inked yet (gasp!) so I remedied that with a quick and simple tag.

 I ink distresed a rounded tag in the same colors that Eloise did, spattered it with water

and added a snowy ground by tearing white card stock because I was too lazy to look for

a snow drift border die. 

 The bunny was popped up on the bottom and the sentiment was white embossed on the tag.

I finished off the tag by adding details to her scarf, falling snow with a white
pigment pen, then threaded gray and white twine through the tag hole.

I love making tags and by the amount of entries in the gallery--650+--I see that
a lot of people do, too. Thanks for stopping by and huge congrats, Tracey, on

Thankful Leaves

Hello, friends! I'm just popping in to wish my US friends a Happy Thanksgiving
and to thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving me your kind comments.

Challenge Me a Christmas Card

Blogging friend Michelle Lupton invited me to join her Challenge Me a Christmas 
Card and I accepted the challenge. I chose "floral" as the theme for the both of us
and here's what I came up with.

I considered using a poinsettia but opted for a single red rose. Altenew's

Fantasy Floral 3D Dies were cut from watercolor card stock and smooshed with

Distress inks. The leaves were colored with Zig markers and a water brush.

A watercolor panel was trimmed and spattered with black paint, then adhered

to a card base covered with striped patterned paper. The bloom and leaves were

adhered to the panel and finished off with the stamped sentiment.

Clean and Simple Holiday 2018

Here's my completed homework assignment for Online Card Classes'

Clean and Simple Holiday. Day 3 was all about coloring and Kristina Werner
shared a fun technique for coloring a modern Christmas tree using markers.

 
A red tree? Why yes, it is. Of all the trees I scribbled, this non traditional colored one

turned out the best. The Nuvo drops look a little weird because originally I dropped

white ornaments on the tree but it looked rather blah, so I peeled them off and went

with two shades of green. The sentiment was heat embossed with platinum powder.

You can enroll in any Online Card Class at any time, and work at your own pace.
I'm determined to try this technique again with more traditional tree colors--

25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

I'm glad that I found some time to play with Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018.

 I've just returned from a week's stay in Tokyo and I was thinking about making tags

while I was there. Here they are.

I was drawn to Gemma's tags on Day 12--the shape, her ink distressing, and how she 

simply added a cute critter on each of her tags.

These tags came together quickly because I had both images cut and colored in my 

stash of die cuts. Both tag shapes were cut from an old Sizzix set of rounded tags

and ink distressed.
 

For the penguin tag, I added some snowballs by die cutting white felt and adding

a bit of glittery Stickles on them, and on the snowy bank. The images were popped

up on their respective tags and stamped with a sentiment. Both tags were finished

off with a loop of gray and white twine, and "snow" from Nuvo Crystal Drops.

And here's my take on it.

An Altenew bloom that was already assembled found a home on my card.
I added some details to the leaves with a YG03 Copic marker. Two strips of
dark gray card stock were adhered to a white card base. The flowers and
leaves were adhered to the card and finished off with the sentiment strip.

And here's my take on it.

The carload of snowpeople in Cool Christmas was colored with Copics and cut
with the matching Die-namics. A rectangle was cut and ink distressed to resemble
a snowy sky. The piece was adhered to a white card base and the car was popped
up over it. The card was finished off with the white embossed sentiment.

I believe Amy Tsuruta enabled me to get this llama, and I thought he'd be
perfect for the sketch. I colored him with Copics and cut him with the matching
dies. He was popped up on the card and the sentiment stamped beneath him.
