Sugar Pea Designs Mix it Up Challenge #13

Are you ready for Sugar Pea Designs Mix it Up Challenge #13? Here you go.

If you're not familiar with the challenge, you can use the sketch or the inspiration
photo on the right, or mix it up and combine the two. That's exactly what I did
for my last card as this month's guest designer.

I chose to use the gorgeous pineapple from Pineapple Paradise which, in my
humble opinion, is one of the prettiest pineapples out there. Using the colors
from the photo, I inked up the fruit with Distress inks and spritzed the stamp
with water before stamping it on watercolor card stock.

After die cutting it with the matching die, I shaded around the fruit and crown
to give it a bit more dimension. I embossed a strip of card stock and adhered it
to the card base. The sentiment was gold embossed and trimmed into a banner.
The pineapple and sentiment strip were then popped up on the card and I added
a bit of bling with a gold thread bow.

Visit the Sugar Pea Designs blog for all the details and deadlines and
join the challenges. The more you enter, the better your chances of winning
up to a $50 SPD gift card!

And a big MAHALO to Lesley and Wendy for having me as a guest this month!

MFT August Creative Construction with Blueprints--Framed

MFT's Blueprints feature innovative designs that make it easy to add interest to your
projects without a lot of effort. Frames with multiple openings allow you to feature numerous
images and sentiments without the trouble of aligning a variety of dies. This month, we’re
shining a spotlight on Blueprints that include these fantastic elements.

Etched Tribal Background was stamped on a kraft card base with white pigment ink.
The three compartment frame from Blueprints 29 was cut from Latté card stock and
adhered to a smaller panel, then color blocked with three colors of card stock.

The hula girl and flowers were stamped with brown ink, colored with Copics and cut
with the matching dies, then assembled on the frame. I stamped the sentiment and
popped up the framed piece on the card.

For more inspiration using Blueprints, visit the MFT blog to see how
participating team members framed their projects.

Tag You're It Challenge #54 Reminder

I'm popping in with a reminder that you have a few more days to join
Tag You're It Challenge #54 with inspiration from Michelle Short.

I made a second tag, and here's how Michelle's tag inspired me.

After ink distressing the tag, I colored the poppy and added some details
with a white pigment pen. I stamped the sentiment, then finished off the tag
with some black and white twine.

You have until Wednesday, August 31st at 9am EST to link up your tags.
Hope to see you in the link up! Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch 187

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 187, compliments of Chrissy.

And here' my take on it.

I ink distressed some leaves and spattered them with white paint. A kraft
card base was stamped in Natural ink with Whimsical Woodgrain. The leaves
were assembled on the card and finished off with the white embossed sentiment.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see how the rest of the design team interpreted
the sketch and join us if you can. Link up your card(s) by Thursday,
September 1st, and we hope to see you in the gallery!

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #295

Another Wednesday means a new sketch from My Favorite Things.

Here's Sketch #295.

And here's my take on it.

I die cut two bird cages from gold card stock and joined them together
to form a longer cage. Three birds were white embossed and ink distressed
and adhered to the cage. I added a strip of dotted paper and finished off
with the sentiment and Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Visit MFT's Card Challenges blog for all the details on how you can win up to
a $20 MFT gift voucher, and to see more inspiration from the design team.
Hope you'll join us and we'll see you in the gallery!
