MFT January Release Countdown--Day 5

Hello, Happy New Year, and welcome to My Favorite Things January Release Countdown!

Did you check out this post over at My Favorite Things? I'm excited to be back on the
Creative Team for another term, and doubly excited that some new designers have
joined the team! It's going to be a great year.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and we're featuring new stamps, dies,
patterned papers, inks, and card stock, plus tons of inspiration from the design team.

I'm sharing MFT's newest member of the STAX family--Wonky Stitched Dienamics in
four shapes: rectangle, square, circle, and oval. They are so much fun, and add a touch
of whimsy to your cards and projects.

I used the smaller size from each set and made little lunch box notes. The images are
from Lisa Johnson's All Heart stamp set, stamped with Black Licorice Hybrid Ink,
then colored with Zig Markers and a waterbrush.

It's hard to capture on camera, but I added a bit of clear Wink of Stella to the hearts
and made them all sparkly as the sentiment says.

I adhered one of the notes to the next larger size rectangle for a bigger note card
so you could include a little handwritten note. I love the detail of the wonky
stitching--it's like sewing the edges without pulling out your sewing machine!

Happy New Year

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have caught a glimpse of my Top 9
pics for 2015, which is based on the number of "likes". It's no surprise that
cards and crafts rounded out the top pics that my followers liked.

These pics tell me that I've rediscovered my Prismacolor pencils, and that
I've grown quite fond of watercoloring now that my Copics are drying out.

I'd like to take this time to thank you all for visiting my blog this year
and for your kind comments. Crafty friends are the best!

Sweet Safari

I'm popping in to share how you can "color" images without using any
coloring medium. How, you ask? By white embossing the images on colored
card stock. Here's my card.

I chose several animals from the Sweet Safari set and white embossed them 

on scraps of colored card stock, then used the matching dies to cut them out. 

I stamped the Etched Tribal Background on kraft card stock, then cut a panel

with the rectangle element from Blueprints 24.

I spattered the panel with white ink and adhered it to a kraft base after it was dried. 

I adhered the animals, sentiment banner, and enamel dots and yes, that monkey 

wanted to sit atop the elephant.

Give this technique a try. It's a good way to use up your scraps, and makes

for quick "coloring" when you don't feel like coloring. Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) this Sketch 153

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 153 brought to you by Chrissy, and it's a cool one.
And it's the last challenge of 2015 with an extended three week deadline
so that we can all enjoy the holidays!

Here's my take on it. Truthfully, I was stumped for a while, then I remembered
 MFT's Stitched Alphabet by Laina Lamb Designs and came up with this--
a no-stamping, all dies card.

I flipped the sketch and spelled out two sentiments in a triangular tree shape,
complete with a topper and a sprinkling of stars. I adhered everything to a
brick embossed panel that was cut with the rectangle element from Blueprints 24.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 259

I'm playing with MFT's Wednesday Sketch Challenge 259 and it looks like this.

Yep, I went totally literal again. That's just how I roll.

I white embossed the Lace Background on Grout Gray card stock, then
used the curved corner element from Blueprints 20 to cut out the panel.
I ink distressed it lightly with Grout Gray ink and adhered it to a
Smooth White card base.

I wanted to add a pop of color so I inked up the label sentiments
in Razzle Berry ink, and fussy cut them out. I adhered them to the card
and finished off with some white pearls.
