Spiffy Birthday

And so it begins....Today is Day 5 of My Favorite Things New Release Countdown
and my first official post as a member of the design team! I can't wait to share the release
with you and you'd better save your pennies, because it's a great one!

My card uses the new TERRIFIC TIES stamp set and it comes with a variety of ties,
but I decided to work with the bowties because I believe they're making
a comeback in the fashion world. You too?

So how fun is this? And you gotta love some neon bowties, right?
I stamped each of the bowties on colored cardstock in Versamark ink, then
clear embossed them. I love how it brings out the details and adds a bit of texture, too.

I stamped the spiffy sentiment on a banner and attached everything to a panel
cut with the new CROSS STITCH RECTANGLE STAX. I love the cross stitch detail!

Make sure you visit the MFT blog for links to the rest of the design team to view
their awesome projects and stop by tomorrow for Day 4 of the New Release Countdown!

CAS(E) this Sketch 121

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 121 brought to you by our teammie Sam.

And here's my simplified take on the sketch.

I white embossed a new quote from Reverse Confetti on watercolor cardstock
then "smooshed" three Distress inks over it and trimmed it to a tag shape.
I adhered it to the kraft card base and added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins
and some faux stitching with a white pigment pen.

Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see how my teammates interpreted the sketch
and join us if you can. Link up your project(s) by Thursday, May 7th.

Hope to see you in the gallery!

Some Happy News!

I can finally share some news that I've been keeping for a while now...
I'm on the My Favorite Things Design Team!

Myself and five other stampers whom I've long admired: Francine Vuilléme, Julia Stainton
Kay Miller, Mayuri, and Yoonsun Hur, will join the rest of the awesome ensemble,
and bring you lots of My Favorite Things goodness starting with the May release!

To celebrate the news, I've made a card using YOU GNOME ME stamps and dies.
I ink distressed a panel after masking it with Post It tape, then added
the gnome, grass, and clouds.

Visit the My Favorite Things blog to meet the new Contributing Design Team
as well as the current Card Challenge Team, and get ready
for an exciting new release coming to you soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing in my happy news.
I can't wait to share my upcoming projects with you!

CAS(E) this Sketch 120

Here's CAS(E) this Sketch 120 by former teammate Gayatri.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I thought "watercolor". Here's my take on it.

I wet a piece of watercolor cardstock and dropped some Distress inks over it.
After letting it dry, I stamped the images and sentiment and added a few sequins. Done!

Head over to CAS(E) this Sketch blog to see how my teammates interpreted the sketch
and join is if you can. Link up your project(s) by Thursday, April 30th
and as a winner, you could be guest designing on a future sketch.
Thanks for stopping by!

Dauber-licious Background

Hello! Today I'm sharing how I created a quick and colorful background
using Hero Arts daubers.

Initially I was planning to use the daubers as watercolors, but went direct to paper instead.
I literally swiped three colors--Cornflower, Tide Pool, and Green Hills--on watercolor paper,
then let it dry. How fun and easy is that?

I added the pup, a few die cut doggie bones, the sentiment and stars. Done!

It's fast, fun, and forgiving and you could experiment with different color combos, too.

So the next time you're pressed for time, consider the dauber for your background.
And check out the new colors in the Hero Arts 2015 Summer Catalog!
