Is there a trick....

...to taking photos of acetate cards? I watched Kristina Werner's video of her Year of Cards series and was inspired to make a card with an acetate window. And I got my order from Stamping Online--only three new stamps!--so the plan was to use the Antique Flower background stamp and punch out a window.

The card came together pretty fast but when it was time to take a photo--it was so hard to do! I kept getting a glare or my reflection in the acetate which didn't show up when I set up the card. Am I supposed to go into a dark closet so there won't be any glare or reflection on the acetate? Any help or comments will be gratefully appreciated....

  3. Can't help with thoughts on taking pics of acetate cards Donna as I shy away from them. Can never get the stazon to go on nicely. Your card is really lovely. Love the brown brocade- and the pearls really finish it,

  6. So yummy! Love this card, Donna! Haha, sorry I am no help with ideas for taking photos... My photo set is always in the kitchen (seems to be the best light) holding my camera over the cutting board, trying not to have any plugs in my picture - aargh!

  7. Love the card - you can try blocking out the reflection by putting up a dark material facing the card - large enough to cover the reflective surface while being far away enough to not block out your lighting for the card. while it is held in that position (parallel to the card), you can shoot from an angle like you've already done. hope that works?!

  8. Love your card Donna!! You're right, normally when I take a photo of a clear card, I just keep turning and turning the card until I don't see the glare or myself in it!

  9. I took a pic of a box made with acetate, and I took it outside in good sunlight & took pic w/o flash. It worked w/o glare.

  10. Hi, Donna! If you are getting glare, ask a friend to hold up a white towel or pillowcase between the acetate and the light. It should help. No matter what, though, photographing acetate cards is HARD! And this one is beautiful! :-)
